We visited Hoa Lu after visiting Bai Dinh temple complex and I preferred Hoa Lu. It’s small, has a more authentic feel (because it’s actually an old temple and not been constructed for tourists) and there is some interesting history about the Dinh and Le dynasties to be learned. It only costs 20,000vnd for entrance to the main temples and can be covered in around 45 minutes-1 hour. We opted not to have a tour guide and just do our own research about the site and don’t feel that we suffered for not having a guide. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’ve got the time whilst staying in Ninh Binh.
