Hidden behind uninspiring concrete blocks sits Thaihouse The Riverfront, and fortunately much of the accommodation in town was fully booked leading us to this place, which in retrospect was a blessing in disguise.
This is not a guesthouse, but is wonderful for larger groups of people who want to rent the entire place to themselves. There is a kitchen (it lacked a few things like a chopping board and plates as well as a washing up area which would have made it even more ideal) that has most of the facilities you need as well as free water, tea and coffee. There was a bit of an ant infestation that got into our food, but with this type of house it's hard to avoid.
The bathroom has only cold water, but even in winter the temperatures are high meaning hot water isn't really necessary. The shower is wonderful, as is the modern toilet. The bathroom is big and amply supplied with shampoos, soaps, toilet paper etc.
The living room and balcony area overlooking the garden/ river is wonderful for groups as it's a quiet secluded place. You can watch movies and TV (although we didn't)... and just sit by the table or on the chairs. The breakfast provided was absolutely delicious, and the lady who runs it was incredibly friendly and helpful.
The rooms themselves have the most comfortable mattresses, crisp-clean sheets (a proper duvet in the air con room), pillows, mosquito nets and are amply supplied with furniture.
Overall an amazing place to stay, and it was a shame we only stayed for two nights!
