Casa de Admirada was simply amazing! It is in the perfect location, close to town, restaurants, buy extremely private and quite. The view is spectacular! The staff were all wonderful and the home was very clean. We loved having the dock to ourselves so that the boat could pick us up and take us anywhere we wanted to go. I would highly recommend for families or groups of friends. We will be back to stay here for sure!
The pictures do not do this house or yard any justice. The house is beautiful and comfortable with lots of room for 9 adults. It has a small beach, it’s own dock, and is right next to the marina. The caretaker keeps the place very clean.
We've just returned from a family reunion with our 3 adult children and their significant others. Truly enjoyed a week at Casa de Admirada and can highly recommend the home. We used 4 of the 6 bedrooms (often spilling into the others for extra showers). While the place is well spread out we never felt too far apart!
Beds - comfortable and clean
A/C in the bedrooms, apartment and casitas worked great. Ample ample ample ceiling fans elsewhere. Of course we were there when folks were wearing their "winter flip flops" and complaining about the cold!
Showers - amazing water pressure and everyone can shower at the same time. Hot water lasts a long time, but also takes a long time to arrive. No big deal once you figure that out.
Kitchen - well appointed and organized but relatively small prep surfaces for a house that sleeps 12. No dishwasher. The stove was a little funky - one burner seemed to only work on high - or maybe we didn't understand. We had to scrounge ice cube trays for the main house by borrowing them from one of the apartments below, but all together there were plenty. Essential for those tropical cocktails!
Dining - the primary table seats 8 comfortably. There are other smaller tables that seat 6 and 4 each.
TV - didn't use it
Local phone - VERY useful and much appreciated
Indoor entertainment - We were there during the rainy season and regardless of weather we are a family that loves board games. For similar families be forewarned there are essentially none provided. I've always appreciated this tip in a review because it is a drag to use luggage space for your own and then find them there!
Screened porch is HUGE and long. Would be nice if there was an outdoor dining table there, instead there are 2 two-person cafe tables, and a seating area with coffee table (below view level).
Pool is clean. No hot tub.
Water equipment kayaks and paddle boards in decent shape. We had to drain water from one of the kayaks, but not a big problem. We kayaked all around the mangrove and out to the reef where we tied the kayaks to one of the dive buoys.
Dock is in good shape.
Don't kid yourself, you can't swim here. Believe the reports. We are adventurous and don't generally take no for answer. We tried. Sink into the muck kind of bottom and no visibility at all until we had swum for several minutes out toward the reef.
Beach towels are provided (8 for 8 people) and were VERY worn and threadbare. Basically our only complaint about the place.
Will, his kids, and his two dogs are easy to have on the grounds and provide a sense of local community as well as security. If you aren't a dog person it might be hard, but the dogs are totally friendly and sweet. Just they are there...
We rented two cars for the 8 of us and were grateful for them. Driving isn't as bad as some reviews make it seem. Just go carefully and watch for potholes. Some could dent a rim if you hit them at speed, but nothing to stop you from driving. There are two restaurants within 15 minute walk down the beach. We never ate at Blue Bahia but seemed nice. We enjoyed the Sunken Fish at Tranquilseas. We also dove with Tranquilseas - great experience. Oh, and the Fresh Bakery just a bit up the road (car required) toward the West End - very good.
We would happily return to Casa de Admirada!
We booked Casa de Admiral for Christmas vacation. There were 9 of us. The house was very spacious and accommodated the group well. Willie, the caretaker was very kind and did a nice job of keeping the grounds well maintained. We had Jennie cook us two wonderful meals. She is kind, and so easy going and well worth it. Her key lime pie is awesome. Down the beach is Tranquil seas dive shop and restaurant. It is great spot for food and Samual at the dive shop is wonderful. He will do snorkel tours as well as dives. The home could use some updating. A new stove is truly needed. New beach towels and hammocks would be great. Overall a great spot.
Casa de Admirada is a beautiful, spacious, well-appointed home. No detail was spared. It is perfect for large groups offering enough space in the common areas to hang out, eat, drink and laugh, or escape to the privacy of your own apartment or casita! The home has two bedrooms on the top floor, each with their own bathrooms. The bottom level has an amazing apartment and a studio, both of which were equally nice. AC worked well in all rooms. There is no AC in the main living area but once the home was opened up and aired out it was not a problem at all! Out by the pool, there are two casitas, with everything you could need. All rooms have wonderful views of Gibson Bight! The home is located in a very quiet residential neighborhood (all the neighbors were amazing) with lush, tropical foliage. It also has various fruit trees such as mangos and bananas. The entire property is gated!
Being located within in a two minute walk of The Gibson Bight Marina was also very convenient. We were initially worried about not having a car, but the marina provides an excellent location to pick up taxis. It costs around 2-3 USD per person to make it West End. We did not have a problem with safety at all and were always able to catch a van to accommodate our entire group. The people on the island were incredible, welcoming and we felt safe at all times.
The pool area is also amazing! There are plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, a wonderful cabana, a BBQ, and the house offers beach towels for your use. There is a bathroom by the pool so you don't have to trek into your rooms while wet. There is also a laundry room located next to this bathroom. Bring your own laundry detergent!
Casa De Admirada has an onsite groundskeeper named Will who is kind and helpful. He was there when we needed help with anything, but was not intrusive in anyway. We only saw him in the morning cleaning up the beach and the pool or when we sought him out! He takes care of two dogs on the property. Both of them are shy but friendly and are also not intrusive. They are great watchdogs as well!
Overall, we had an excellent time staying at this house. Our group of eight had more than enough room. Liz and her team were wonderful to work with and they recommended using a company called Detour Roatan for excursions and chef service. We were incredibly happy with our chef and this company. They even stopped by on our first day to make sure we had gotten settled in and to discuss any upcoming plans that we had made. We had Jenni cook for us for three nights and it was simply amazing to come home from a long day of exploring to appetizers and dinner ready for us! She was friendly, helpful , accommodating and her food was delicious. Make sure you request her Key Lime Pie, Roasted Chicken and her empenadas!
