We had read the reviews, and were surprised at the mixed views. Having stayed here for 5 nights, I now understand why it divides opinion. For us, it was a comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of the town, but in a quiet area. The grounds are pretty, and the view from the restaurant is lovely. The staff are friendly, but are little reserved at first (except Ante in the dining room who is smiles from the start). We had a room at the back as we use our room for sleeping and changing, so paying for a balcony and view we wouldn't use would be a waste of money. Very few people seemed to sit on their balconies while we were there. There is a terrace with loungers, tables, and umbrellas on the first floor, so we weren't stuck for somewhere to soak up some sun.
The bed was very comfortable, lots of storage for clothes, The bathroom was dated, but the shower, toilet, and washbasin all worked, towels were provided, and I spent 15-20 minutes a day in the bathroom, so it isn't a big issue for me. It is a three star hotel, and star ratings are not fixed, they vary according to the country you go to. For a hotel in the Balkans/Greece/Turkey, it is a decent three star, and relatively inexpensive.
If you go here expecting luxury, you will be disappointed. If you go expecting a decent base for exploring the area at a reasonable price, you will enjoy it. Your choice.

Hotel Croatia in hvar island is one of the good luxury hotels in Hvar island. The hotel is beautifully serene and neat and have a great sea view. The rooms are at higher levels so you will be able to view the mesmerised crystal blue colour of the sea and soothe yourself. Most of the hotels in the island is comparatively expensive compared to those in the City of Zagreb or Split, however it’s worth staying here for at least one night to experience the beauty of the island. We stayed there for 1 night in mid July and probably that time is the best to visit Croatia. The rooms are well sized and not as small as in other popular European destinations..The breakfast spread is OK types and the hotel staff is courteous.. the hotel is very quiet despite being close to happening part of the island. This is one of those rare combination which could suit all types of vacationers like honeymoon couples or friends in groups..
If you are a party person Hvar is the place to be.. Most of the known party places can be walked down from this hotel and parties go on, all around the night!

They advertise they have a private beach, gift shop and concierge, none of which we saw. Our room was nothing like the photos it uses to advertise, it was dated and very small. The beach isn't really a beach but a small rocky platform crammed with uncomfortable rented sunbeds which anyone can use if they pay, watch out for the sea urchins. The staff are unpleasant but you can see this before going by reading the managers comments to any negative reviews they receive. Lovely building but needs updating and new management.

We were very lucky and had a suite overlooking the Adriatic. Very helpful staff, spotlessly clean and an excellent breakfast. The grounds are beautiful and there is a "beach" area very close by. No sand, but plenty of sunbeds. A very pleasant stroll in to Hvar where there are plenty of bars and restaurants. Recommended
