Owner description: Scenic trail through lush green parks and peaceful lakes: a great place to bike, hike and run.

Walking or biking the trail around Town Lake is literally the best thing you can do with your time and energy on a sunny Texas day. Bikers need to be cautious of pedestrians and dogs (it's a very popular activity in Austin), but it's definitely doable. The trail is also pretty well lit at night along the portions on the southern shore that are part of the boardwalk, so you could easily walk it at night if the summer days are too hot.

We frequently walk our dog on the hike and bike trail. However, we use the eastern half east of I-35 as it is much less trafficked. If you want to people watch and gawk at the skyline, then start at Loop 1 and walk east. If you want to escape the crowds, then park near the newly constructed boardwalk and stay east.

We rode the whole trail and enjoyed every part of it. Flat, easy and scenic. There is a fabulous bicycle sculpture on the trail.

This 10 mile trail is perfect for a run, a dog walk, or a stroll. Some of the best views of the city can be found from the Eastern end of the trail. Great people watching too.

Walked parts of this path on two occasions in late April heat. A pleasant and part shaded route but with many blind bends, around which flew cyclists and scooter riders.
