Owner description: We are a scuba diving resort in Athens, TN that is based around a ten acre quarry lake. Our crystal clear waters are home to the ancient and extraordinary paddlefish, among other aquatic wildlife. Since coming under new management in the summer of 2014, we have been hard at work improving both our on-site and online amenities.
Useful Information: Food available for purchase, Bathroom facilities, Activities for older children

Wow!! What an adventure!!! Was expecting low visibility since there were torrential downpours the night before but visibility stayed at about 30 feet! That’s great for a Quarry on their best days! Owner was more than attentive and kept the grounds very organized which is a plus: every group had their own change table. And they have PADDLEFISH!!! Never seen them before so that was quite exotic!! Prices were great, service was wonderful, scenery spectacular! For a freshwater dive, how could you not rate them 5 stars!

This is a great local place to dive (under 3 drive from ATL) and the owners are genuinely concerned that everybody have a good time and are comfortable. If you need a tank refill, he comes down every so often to gather them and brings them back to you. He is making improvements as he can so I expect this place will get a lot better over the years.

There aren’t showers or a bathroom but he does have very clean port-a-potty for use. I noticed most of the people come out with cooler and grill to make it a full day trip. Just a good bunch of people hanging out, having fun and diving.

Don’t forget to see the paddlefish while there!

My daughters both did their checkout dives here. Alex runs the place and is great about refilling tanks and helping w/ gear issues. Picnic tables on both sides of the ramp for your gear. Take a popup-canopy in case your table is on the right-hand side as the sun does get hot. The water is clear (if you dont kick up the silt), and the paddlefish are huge! Watch out for the (fiberglass) shark! The water usually has 2 thermal layers so be ready when going into the second layer. Great local dive local

More people should dive here! I was surprised to only see a handful of divers here on a weekend.

Great facility, laid out well. Each group has access to a picnic table for their gear. Reasonably clean too.

The owner is fantastic! He came down to the dock every hour to make sure we had everything we needed. Very friendly and willing to give advice things to see in the quarry.

As for the diving itself: It was a bit chilly under 30ft if you don't have a 7mm or dry suit. On the surface it was mid to high 60s, 30 ft mid 50s and low 50s any deeper than that.

Visibility was on point. Even after raining all night, you didn't have to worry about losing your buddy due to vis. By far the best vis out of all the quarry dives I've done.

There are even a decent number of sunken statues, boats, jet skis, and even a shark! Easy access to platforms at various depths for training and bars to aid boyency for NAUI skills.

I'll definitely be going back.

This is not a SCUBA review, but hopes it adds to the general character of how the place is run/being aware of guest needs. For the 2017 Eclipse, the toilets, cooling tent, ample parking, reasonable pricing, food stand (community organization), and staff check-in at the entrance let me know they are 'in tune' with what most people would look for. Though a unique event outside of SCUBA, I could see the staff being aware of how to work with a large group/camp related event and handle an online reservation/pay by CC ticketing system if needed.

My stay was 3+ hours. They seem quite capable of handling DIY filed camping with mowed fields, self contained RV parking areas (off grid, slight grade), lit utility building with bathrooms nearby, ample field space. I don't know if they have wooded areas / what cabins are like.
