Red Barn Likker, a small-batch producer of high quality moonshine, is one of the most unusual and interesting attractions in South Carolina. The distillery is easy to find, being located on the court square across from the Abbeville Opera House. If you stop by when they’re open – that is, Thursday-Friday-Saturday from 11 am to 7 pm – you can enjoy a little tour of the distillery, sample the ‘shine at the tasting bar (add flavorings if you like), and buy 90 or 100 proof ‘shine. You have to take your purchases with you. They can legally distill the stuff and sell it on the premises, but they aren’t allowed to ship it. We were greeted warmly when we visited, and I’m sure you will be too. No food is served on the premises.
