We spent 5 nights at Kanra for a family trip in Japan and we loved every minute of it. The hotel's interior design is Japanese-style yet modern and looks amazing. The staff is super friendly and helpful, always booking restaurants for us and giving us recommendations. They have a lovely shop next to the café where you find interesting Japanese designers (arts and craft) and we highly recommend to eat at Hanaroku. We will definitely stay at this hotel next time we're in town.

We spent four nights at Kanra and enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was perfect - from convenient location (10 minutes walk to the Kyoto rail station) to spacious, stylish and impeccably clean rooms. As spoiled as we were already by the high standards of Japanese hospitality, we were blown away by the attention and service at Kanra. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. When we asked about the temple next to the hotel, they offered to walk us around next morning. When they discovered it was my husband’s birthday, they left a beautiful box of sweets with a hand written card in our room.

The breakfast was delicious (you have a choice of Japanese or western breakfast, the portions were so generous, the kids split one portion). Our breakfast was included in the rate, but you can chose between a set breakfast or pick a few options a la carte.

Wonderful stay - we will certainly stay here again whenever we are back!

My 13 year old and I enjoyed 2 nights at Kanro Kyoto Hotel. The room was amazing! A nice mix of modern and traditional. We had a great view of the temple next door. Despite being in a central location, we did not hear any noise/street traffic below. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff was super friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend to others!

This hotel has the perfect location, in walking distance from Kyoto Station and you can access all major sites by cab. This hotel has perfect accommodations. The rooms are modern and very comfortable but yet with Japanese styling. This hotel has perfect front desk staff who is willing to help with anything, ship luggage, find a dinner reservation, hail a cab. There is nothing they won't do to accommodate their guests. In the middle of Typhoon Jebi the staff stayed to ensure the guests were comfortable and fed, since most restaurants in the city had shut down. Be sure to enjoy the Teppan restaurant and have the chef's tasting. It was one of the best meals we had in Kyoto!!
Honestly, this hotel is perfection and I would highly recommend it!

As first time travelers to Japan from the U.S., this boutique hotel was the most memorable accommodation we can imagine - for all the right reasons. Every detail is thoughtfully considered to make for an elegant and aesthetically stunning experience. Most strongly recommend!
