Nizhny Novgorod was one of our stops on an east to west Trans- Siberian train journey. It's an easy to like city, in a beautiful setting. The Ibis room was smallish but well designed, and the hotel is an easy walk to the main pedestrianize street. However, it might be too long a walk for some to the kremlin, which is worth a visit. For T-S train riders, the train station is far away from the lovely old city - on the 'wrong' side of the river - but you can take the subway from there and there's a stop near the Ibis. NN seems to have been spruced up to host the world cup in July.
