We enjoyed our visit to the Cat Republic! The staff were very friendly and helpful even though we do not speak Russian. We enjoyed the coffee and seeing all the different cat objects, pictures, magnets etc. on offer, but did not play with the cats as they were being fed. We did have the option to wait, but preferred just to enjoy the cafe.
The visit to the Cats Republic in St. Petersburg Russia was great. The cats were very friendly. The girl in the facility spoke both Russian and English so since we were the only English speaking guests she made our visit very enjoyable.
I had a good time seeing all the cats. They were all sleeping so I didn’t get to play with any, but they were still very cute and I was able to get lots of pictures of them. Maybe try going earlier in the day to see the cats with more energy, I went late in the afternoon.
a lovely experience here with my daughter. There are a few of these in St Petersburg so google which you want in advance as they are all a challenge to find. We visited 2 - one was quite expensive and very up market - the cats were well cared for and there was a great choice of breeds. The other was donation run for 'needy' cats, the cats had two rooms of which one was made up to look like a roof top. Both nice for different reasons.
We found the place randomly by checking the recommended places for visiting in St. Petersburg. There are 27 different cats there and all of them were adopted. Unlike other cat cafe with famous cats, this place is one of the kind and every each one cat there has his/her own personality and stories. To witness the feeding which we called it ‘brunch’ was difinitely an unforgettable experience as no one has ever that many cats at home st the same time. They were all friends until the feeding started and every cat has his/her unique ‘lifestyle’, say taking exercise before eating or walking in some secret circles. The staffs there were true cat lovers and they kept everything in order and most importantly they ensure all the cats are in good shape. This place is the answer that where are the cats in SPB, and my interpretation is they are all taken good care of by people like them. Will recommend to those adopted cats and understood the importance.
This place was a little difficult to find initially, as there is scaffolding outside at the moment but once we found it, it was great. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and explained to us in English how the place works (which was appreciated as we speak no Russian). There is a cute little cafe with good coffee and some small, tasty cakes, and you can buy some fun souvenirs. You can also take your coffee through to the two rooms where the cats are. You pay a small donation before you go through - the recommended donation is around 300 roubles, which is very reasonable compared to a lot of cat cafes and when you think about the costs involved in caring for so many animals. You can pay more or less, as you like. The two rooms with the cats include toys, cat baskets, levels for the cats to play on, etc, and there are lots of different kinds of cats there - they all looked well kept and happy.
This place felt very welcoming and relaxed, but more importantly the cats seemed cared for and this place is a bit different from a general cat cafe in that the ultimate goal is to find permanent homes for the residents. I would recommend this place, as the cause is a good one and you will definitely have a nice time while there.
