Consistently good, with excellent service, food and drinks, in a romantic setting in the quaint little village of Athens. One of my go-to restaurants in the Catskills.

The cocktails were great, and we had the mussels (they serve two variations), a big salad, and the special pate. All of the food was delicious and we felt like we were in a bistro in Paris. Our waitress, Mary, was so friendly, we really enjoyed talking to her. It was the perfect ending to a relaxing weekend in the Hudson area. If you love French food, you must try this restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

We have dines and brunched here several times during the past year that it's been open (July 2016). It's very good Bistro food albeit the prices are a bit steep for the sleepy town of Athens. Portions are large, service is good and setting is comfortable and tasteful.

We loved everything about our dinner at Rive Gauche. We began with Kir Royales, followed by Moules & Frites Normandy style (in ia cream sauce), which we shared. Our party of 4 ordered Salmon with lentils in a mustard sauce, cassoulet and steak & frites. All were delicious and cooked as ordered. My only quibbles with the cassoulet was that it didn't include sausage, and the duck was obviously prepared separately from the beans, which deprived the beans of any rich, meaty flavor usually associated with cassoulet. The salmon, on the other hand, was fresh and perfectly executed. The wine list was extensive and contained many French options. We ordered a 2011 Pomerol, which at $40 seemed like a good price and was a perfect match for our entrees. The portions were generous by French standards, and sadly we had no room for dessert. It is worth a trip to Athens just to dine at Rive Gauche. It was like being transported to France for the evening.

Stopped for lunch on a day trip in Athens. Wonderful little restaurant. Cobb salad was very fresh with tasty dressing. Will definitely go back to try their dinner menu.
