Not bad and many aspects are pretty decent but all spoilt by the informality of the staff. The prices are 5* but the buddy-buddy service is too local restaurant not top end hotel. Come on Mr Zuber, you can do better.

Dear Will_H_London,

Thank you for taking the time to write the review, I really appreciate it.
As you say the resort is in a beautiful location and we are blessed with one of the best beaches in Mauritius and I am also thankful that you describe our renovated facilities as top notch.

That being said, I sincerely regret that your service experience wasn’t up to your expectation. I pride myself and my team to deliver exceptional personalized service and I am sorry that in your case we fell short and we have well noted your service preference.

We know that we can impress you on a future stay, and we hope you will consider a return. We are committed to providing you with an unforgettable experience.

Until then I wish you safe travels!

Marcel

We have been going to le saint geran for the past 20 years. The new renovation is amazing with the pool and restaurant at le pointe and the new gym and tennis club. The staff is also great and have been there for a long time from Ashvin and Robin at the tennis to Noel at the restaurant staff has been there forever and it's one of the key things of the hotel.

Very recomendable stay in Mauritius!

Super luxurious, fancy and very high end. The hotel is situated on the best possible location with Indian ocean on one side and a beautiful lagoon on the other. Everything in the hotel is selectively picked and placed. Very nicely done rooms, with all possible amenities and a complimentary bottle of local rum, well stocked mini bar, big LED screen and a private sitting area with the most beautiful view of the lagoon. Very well appointed staff and a number of services like spa, diving, boating etc. It's an experience in itself....

I would just like to thank all of the staff for our beautiful fortnight at Le Saint Geran. This is a simply stunning hotel in one of the best locations on the island. It has the advantage of a stunning white powder beach front over looking the ocean, but sheltered by the distant reef, as well as a tranquil lagoon side where the water is still and superb for water sports. We had a delightful room with a glass walled balcony overlooking the ocean and the palm trees on the beach. The water laps gently at the beach as you wake up and stroll to the beautiful buffet breakfast. All of the staff are superb, friendly, inviting and attentive - a real credit to the hotel. I would particularly like to thank our waiter Gangadin for all of his superb help and arrangements. We were lucky enough to be staying on my birthday and our wedding anniversary and Gangadin helped to make the experience so memorable - his photography skills were also brilliant ! The patisserie where a huge array of cakes, pastries, sweets and assorted delights and macaroons and ice creams which are served as a dessert choice for all restaurants just has to be seen to be believed.
The food in all of the restaurants is excellent. The buffet choice is immense, including a delightful cheese selection which some reviewers have said was missing in previous reviews. Prime is the highlight restaurant, run by Chef Vikesh, who took us on a superb visit to a local market before cooking an exquisite curry dish. A great treat.
The water sports on the gentle lagoon side are superb. We went waterskiing and kayaking as much as you want. Glass bottom boat rides over the reefs, we learnt how to play Padel in the superb Club one facilities.
Overall, one of the best hotels I have stayed in and I have stayed in many “top” hotels around the world. A great credit to everyone on the transformation and we hope to be back soon.

Wind your way up the driveway through lush, tropical gardens and lawns. On arrival be met by a gong being sounded. Drinks in the foyer which has a view straight out to sea at the other end. Be taken to your room by friendly, accommodating staff. We were lucky enough to have a beachfront suite. Amazing. Huge bedroom, walk in robe, bathroom with separate toilet, lounge dining room, mini bar, pod coffee, and a second bathroom. Phenomenal view across the lawn to the beach with beach chairs and thatched umbrellas. A balcony with chairs, lounges and tables.
Clean, neat and tidy. Staff were always there when needed and, if I had one complaint it would be that the staff were there when not needed as well. Still, better than never to be found.
There were a few things that became "lost in translation" and sadly, we found that that happened a lot where money changing hands was involved. Quite often the price quoted wasn't the end result.
Priya, our main room cleaner was fantastic and went above and beyond. We had friends to drinks every evening before dinner and when we got back it was all clean.
Basil, our "butler" and his staff were exemplary. Nothing was too much trouble. Basit is a very kind, quiet and humble person and if you can get him as your head butler, your stay will be smooth. The pools, beach, activities, walks etc around the resort were fantastic. We didn't want to leave. There are three restaurants and if there is one thing you must do, it is go to Prime. This restaurant specialises in steak. I have never had such an amazing meal. It was the best steak ever and the service is definitely silver. We enjoyed eating there twice and could have done so every night but there were other places to go and themes in the main restaurant on various nights, eg. Mauritian night, seafood night.
There is live music every night and it's great. I would warn people to book accommodation at the far end of the wings as the music goes from about 8:30pm until about 11:00pm and the rooms near the foyer and hall would hear it quite easily.
There's a gym, pool table, 9 hole putt-putt, tennis and all manner of things to do beside the water sports. There is also one of the best and busiest kids clubs I have ever seen. The children can be kept busy all day. A fantastic resort to go to if you want family time as well as the odd break from the children.

Room Tip: Rooms on the end of the wings are quieter as the music at night is in the centre.
