Review of Mandarin Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 May 2019via mobile
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights with no regret. We were given deluxe room with a view of Gaya Market on Sunday morning. The room is comfortable. If you didn't bring toiletries, they provide it inclusive of toothbrush, toothpaste and even a comb. The staff are very friendly.

The location is right by the entrance to the weekend market, walking distance from the marina and shopping areas. Pleasant rooms and a very friendly and helpful staff. Offered free airport transfer as well. Would for sure stay again.

In the off season (January), for the first night, we stayed at the Mandarin Hotel. Given that we travelled 24 hours, we were hoping that the Mandarin hotel would be a good hotel to spend the night. I can acknowledge the fact that it is, particularly as
- we got a free upgrade
- we had a spacious room
- the room was fairly clean
- decent size bathroom
- VERY friendly hotel staff; we were greeted by a smile, both upon arrival and departure
- good location

Although the hotel does not offer breakfast, this is perfectly fine as there enough places to eat nearby.
It is hard to mention any downsides. If I would have to think about one,
- I am afraid that, if you have a room facing the Chinese street, it may be a bit noisy.

We would stay here again!

This hotel is a very good place to stay in KK; it has an excellent location, very friendly staff, the room (we booked the family room to have more space) was excellent, clean, AC worked perfectly, bathroom seemed recently renovated and with fresh soft towels every day. We had a kettle with mugs, tea+coffee and a small fridge to store our food and keep the water chilled (we got 4 new bottles of drinking water free daily. Otherwise the hotel has a water-cleaning system applied so their tap water is also ok to drink!)
The wifi worked fast during our stay.
It´s a fact the Friday night market on the Gaya street is loud with live music until 11 pm but we enjoyed it very much...
The hotel itself is on a side road with less traffic, so overall it was quieter than something else on the main road. Saturday/Sunday day market are literally lies around the hotel and the adjacent Gaya street, so the traffic is completely blocked away.

Plenty of restaurants can be found for breakfast (or any time) within 1-5 minutes walk. Our favorite place was the Yee Fung Laksa to start the day with something hot and spicy :-D. But also many places offer western food too.
All the sightseeing places, many shopping malls, the jetty to go to the islands are in walking distance.
They have a very convenient airport transfer too(free of charge) when you check out.
Thank you for the hospitality and we will definitely choose again this hotel when return to KK! Great value for the money and highly recommended!

Room tip: Junior suite or the family room offers more space

Located in central area right next to the Sunday market and Friday & Saturday market which can be noisy as they go on all evening.
Helpful reception, room was high up corner so not so noisy.
Dated but comfortable.
Lots of eating places around there.
The hotel provides a free transfer to the airport which is a nice added benefit
Would definitely stay again

I booked online and I was very happy I did.
Very friendly staff, which help you out in every way (my Grab-app did not work, so they used there to order me a ride). I could also store my luggage with them on my last day there.

Room is very nice, airconditioning, nice hot shower, very soft bed, fast wifi.

Only thing I can point out that is not common for a nice hotel, is that there is no breakfast in the hotel. But when you go around the corner, there are loads or places to eat and small supermarkets to buy food.
