Disappointed!

Disappointing Bonvoy property to be honest. Well the staff tried but didn’t live up to the expectations.
Location - it’s ok if you have business in town but for relaxing holiday purposes I would choose something else. Meridian has this fruit veg/ fish/meat market right opposite which smells most times from the balcony. And the sight apart from the beautiful sunrise is kinda not very pleasant. Walk down from the hotel is quite dirty too and needs attention. For more happier holiday I would choose Shangri la and such.

Staff - some staff like Alvina, Rocky, manager Suresh, Dominic are good….resta re quite unremarkable

FOOD - was quite awful… the breakfast buffet downstairs we could not eat the second time. It seems they cut corners every where. It is NOT 5 stars standard even according to Malaysia. Try Shangri la! See the the difference in everything!

Rooms - only 4 rooms had balcony!! You are facing the sea…!? The toiletries are good and beds comfortable. No coffee machine even in the most expensive rooms!

Really 4 stars hotel… just about

Thank you for taking the time to share your review with us. We truly apologize for not living up to your expectations and your feedback will certainly contribute to our overall improvements although some of the areas are not within our control but we will work it out with the relevant agencies.

We are grateful as well for your recognition towards our associates and managers such as Alvina, Rocky, Suresh and Dominic and rest assured that we will look into this matter of customer service difference. At Marriott, we strive to ensure our customer service standards is always on top.

It is regretful to know that our breakfast buffet at Latest Recipe was a disappointment. We will definitely review our practises to ensure that we retain the standards that we should be proud of. We have shared this feedback to our culinary team and they are in the midst of working on an improvement plan.

As for our balconies, they are only available for our Duplex rooms to accommodate the outdoor bath tub and also in the Presidential Suite where this is the only unit that is provided with a coffee machine

Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu - great stopover!

Excellent location across from the food market and the craft market and only 15 minutes to the airport. Rooms are a little small but very nice - our room was harbor-facing and had an amazing view! The rooftop bar also has a great view of the harbor. The only downside is the food and beverage: the menu could have been larger and better on the rooftop, and the early-morning breakfast was underwhelming. In all a great hotel in an A+ location.

Room tip: Perfect location if you have a stopover - easy to get to and right at the markets

Great stay

My son and I stayed in October during a short holiday to KK. This hotel was conveniently located opposite the seafood market and nearby shopping malls. We arrived in the night and walked across to have a delicious seafood dinner.

We booked a room with club lounge access. Our room had a lovely view of the sea and the club lounge view was spectacular. Breakfast at the club lounge was very good. Although the spread is not as big as the one at the lobby floor, it was more than adequate and much less crowded. The chef at the club lounge makes the best poached eggs! We also had evening cocktails only on one of the nights as we had other activities planned. Cocktails were great and there was enough food that it turned into dinner for us.

We also booked a tour with the concierge. Staff at check in, concierge, club lounge were all friendly and warm.

I would definitely stay here again when in KK.

Perfect introduction to Sabah

Enjoyed four nights at the start of a wildlife holiday. Great introduction to Malaysian hospitality and a relaxing environment to acclimatise to the heat and humidity of Borneo.

Treated ourselves to a two-tier room with picture windows overlooking the markets and harbour. The room was immaculate. We appreciated cooling down in the jacuzzi bath on the balcony after walking around Kota Kinabalu.

A variety of delicious local dishes were served in the lounge at breakfast and supper. Stand out dishes were the 'pick & mix' soup and dim sums.

All the staff were exceptionally helpful with routine requests and when dealing with a problem in our room. Everything was sorted immediately.
