Stayed there from August 2nd until August 5 , check in process very slowly , cleanliness is average and not up to scratch , in addition there is no access for anyone who has mobility issues breakfast is served at level 1 using stairs and no elevators to access the floor directly

Nice beach with a beautiful sunset. Facilities are really dated though. Ceiling of one large area collapsed the week before we arrived, and it was impossible to get the mosquitoes out of the room (problematic really as dengue is known to be in the region and these looked like ages aegyptes mosquitoes).

Very grateful to the hotel, Baharom, Aslynnah, Harun & Melson for helping in handling our event that involving all 148 civil servants throughout Sabah. They able to meet the sudden demands for our side. The food n hall preparations are very statisfying. The most important thing is that the sale manager (baharom) and service manager event (aslynnah) easy to deal with. THANK YOU!

Spent two nights here at start of our Borneo expedition and could not have been more disappointed with the facilities and food. Shangri-La used to be one of my ‘go-to’ hotel brands 15 years ago but it seems they have not invested in their properties which now seem tired and old (we had a similar experience in the Shangri-La in Manila in February which i had hoped was a one off poor experience). But more than this our room was not very clean, the bed linen was old and stained, towels threadbare and our bathroom had not been cleaned to an acceptable standard.

Breakfast was absolute chaos. I have never seen such a poorly run restaurant. Whilst plentiful food stations, and even though the food quality was very poor, all were overwhelmed by the number of guests. We were told that the hotel was only 50% full - so how they would have coped if any fuller, goodness only knows.

The outdoor areas are not well kept, food and drink service poor, beach grotty.

Frankly in my humble opinion the entire hotel needs to be completely refurbished.

The one positive was the concierge who was extremely helpful and polite.

The price charged for this poor quality hotel is simply ridiculous. My advice, look around. There must be better alternatives near by.

Not recommended. Disappointing. Old furniture, fungus on the grout in the bathroom, rooms to a very average standard. Beautiful, encouraging name of the hotel giving hope to spend a few days in real luxury. Unfortunately, it is a 3 * for European conditions. Cramped, tiny beach, crowded pool. The prices of drinks are dizzying. This is not luxury!!
