I went to my Bach Dang favourite, but found it a no-go zone as there were major pavement repairs going on, and it would have been decidedly unpleasant with it’s open front.
But next door was a shop-house style cafe with a closed front and A/c. Perfect.
A man of simple needs, Leaf had exactly what I wanted, coffee and a Banh Mi. Off the street and in A/c comfort.
I was greeted by a pleasant lady waitress, who proffered my her simple menu. My order was cafe sua da, and a pork banh mi with an egg. It took about 15 mins to prepare, but tasted good. Only disappointment was that my coffee arrived in a single use plastic container! When I explained that Viet Nam was a major contributor to the Pacific’s plastic ocean the waitress took my coffee away and represented it in a handsome tall glass.
The combined meal cost vnd60k (less than $3).
Not great, but comfortable and good value!
