I stayed here in August with my family and was delighted with the hotel. It was very clean, all the staff were attentive and the food was excellent.

The pools areas are well kept and despite being a large you don’t feel cramped and there are plenty of sun beds.

The only downside was the cost of the drinks they were expensive but that’s the only criticism I have.

Overall I would recommend staying here.

The hotel/resort is really nice. The staff is friendly and supportive. The location provides everything for a relaxed beach vacation. If you leave the hotel there is nearly nothing to do- especially compared to Dubai.
Everything you have not yet paid upfront within your original booking is extremely expensive. Starts with mineral water = factor 25 from supermarket and continues with restaurant prices to water sport activities which are three times as expensive than at Italian beaches.
So to stay in this hotel is really beautiful if you don’t expect anything else than chilling in the sun at big pools and lovely beach. AI makes sense if you want to drink more than 2 beer/ wine / cocktail/ Softdrink per day.
Food is ok but no variation after one week. As said the special restaurants - especially the Italian- are totally overpriced with normal pasta for > 20 €.
I am not a hotel manager but I am sure that if you give your customers the feeling to be treated as cash cow it will never pay out in the end. (Only 2 people / per day using the water sport activities despite a lot of options)

If possible take a so called „Villa“ at the beach. This view will make you really happy.

The staff are the stars here without a doubt we were given a warm welcome from the reception staff and Zerin the Virgin rep. Katak always cleaned our room at a time that suited us he did an excellent job and made us smile on our return with the towel animals that he left us. We had a garden access room on the ground floor which was ideal for getting to and from the beach and to the pools, I found the bed too hard at first but Anglemar soon rectified this and also supplied us with toothbrushes after my husband forgot (his only job )to pack ours. Although we were all inclusive with Virgin holidays not everything was all inclusive so maybe it should be retitled almost inclusive, one disappointment was that all water sports were very overpriced so we didn’t bother however the water aerobics class run by Marta was included and was very popular, she also ran other sports activities and was always friendly and full of energy.
The staff in the main buffet were always smiling and helpful especially Presil and Islam, we are very fussy eaters but we managed to find something to suit us every day. We did try the Italian and Brazilian restaurants but the all-inclusive Virgin menu wasn’t ideal for us even with the 70 Dirhams Virgin credit.
The beach was very nice, it was clean, safe and never crowded, it was the same around the pools we could always get one of the loverly covered seating areas, beware of the slippery floor around the pools though, and we wished there had been some areas outside where smoking wasn’t allowed. Our favorite daytime beach bar was the Rio beach bar Eugien and Anarul always gave us a warm welcome and made some very nice mocktails, it was always the coolest place to sit too because it had a lovely sea breeze.
Unfortunately, my husband was unwell during our holiday (nothing to do with the hotel) Rahul Mishra and his staff were very considerate when he was taken ill at breakfast one morning.
Lastly, we would like to thank the hotel staff for the delicious cake and fruit that they left in our room for our wedding anniversary.

We booked this hotel with Virgin on the standard All Inclusive package and we were so pleased with our choice. Having stayed in Dubai several years ago, we were happy not to be in the city, only planning to travel into Dubai once during the week. The resort is huge, our Garden Room was in a great location, on the ground floor with our own sun loungers on the grass and only a few steps to the gorgeous beach and pool.

We loved the main buffet restaurant, we were very well looked after by our waiter Islam. Having often experienced "luke warm" food in many buffet restaurants on various holidays, this was not the case here, everything was piping hot. We visited two of the al-la-carte restaurants, the Brazilian and the Italian, we were happy to choose from the included special Virgin menu, and again the staff were excellent and very attentive to our needs.

As other reviewers have stated, there is no entertainment in the evenings as such, but we loved the new refurbished Sol Bar up by the villas, the décor and furnishings were so tastefully done. Because of the heat, we would get a buggy there and back but it would be a lovely walk at a cooler time of year. Every driver we came in contact with was great fun and very friendly, as were all the staff in this resort.

We travelled to Dubai one day to meet up with our son who was on holiday in the city. The taxi from the hotel was great, costing around 250 dirhams for one way. We visited the Atlantis Water Park, and then stayed on into the evening to see the fountain show next to The Mall. The taxi coming back however, wasn't so good. Having queued up at the taxi point in the mall, we were ushered into what we believe was a private taxi (a Lexus as opposed to the cream coloured ones). Despite being assured by the driver that the price would be reasonable, we ended up paying considerably more than the outward journey, and when we got to RAK he couldn't even find our hotel, and had to stop and ask another taxi driver the way, adding at least another 20 minutes onto our journey!!!

Finally, I cannot praise ALL of the staff at this enough, the pool guys, lifeguards, buggy drivers and also the reception staff, they all went the extra mile in making our stay so memorable and above all, really valued guests!!! Congratulations to the Management of this hotel, you should be proud of yourselves for the way your staff work so hard, they are obviously trained to a very high standard.

We would love to return next year, probably a bit later when the weather is a little cooler.

This was a perfect resort for relaxation. They have many pools, from salt pool to temperature pool, that would certainly accommodate everyone's liking. Different restaurants to cater your palette. BUT I will not recommend to visit it during summer times as it is really extremely hot. The whole resort is huge, I think it is the biggest one in RAK but they have buggies to drive you if you don't want to walk. Hospitality and customer service is just superb. The villa that we stayed was perfect. I DEFINITELY recommend this resort if you want to relax and still get a top notch service.

We would just like to give compliments to the staff especially from the food & beverage section of Maarid Restaurant, everyone was extremely friendly but special kudos to Maylyn and Prasil they were really helpful and remarkably affable. Such an exceptional delightful people. We would like to give compliments to the drivers of the buggies, Jerry, Danilo and Moktan, their congeniality was just superb. Taking the rides whatever time of the day was a joy. Compliments to Eugene of Rio Beach Bar and to Sakar of Sunset Bar for being exceptionally cordial and for always having zest despite the hectic and hot days. To the chef of Pura Vida (which I unfortunately forgot the name) but a huge thanks for making sure that my food didn't have any spicy or chilli ingredients to it, for taking the time to talk to us. Last but not the least to the one who sells beverages on his buggy, Saqib, for being such a warm-hearted person.

Everyone was outstandingly polite and amiable. Compliments to all these people and to the rest of your staff for taking the extra mile in making our stay more memorable and definitely worthwhile.

Room Tip: Choose a villa for easy access to the beach but also near the pools.
