“Safranbolu, an authentic experience”
Reviewed 23 April 2013

the city of Safranbolu gives a unique experience in Turkey with its special architecture..the city has a soul
you can reach it from Ankara by bus (almost 3 -3 and half hour)... you take a bus from Asti (every 1 or 2 hours there is a bus)... from the otogar station you can take a dolmus to the pazar area or if u like walking u can enjoy nice scenery along the way...
the pazar is nice with reasonable prices and no need to bargain...
the office of tourism information is very efficent, they provide you with a map of the area with few explanation
it is recommeneded to visist the house museum that gives an idea of old life in the area
go to the hill, have your tea and enjoy the scene from above

“beautiful town”
Reviewed 4 April 2013

It is a storybook town, with old Ottoman architectural houses, mosque and the best hamam (bath house) in Turkey. There is not much to do here, but to relax, enjoy the life of a small town, spend the afternoon with a cup of safron tea and lokums (turkey sweets), and for dinner dine at the local resturants. When i was there, i dine at Oz Hakiki Kayseri Manti located in the bazar (market) which is popular with Asian tourist. The food is good enough to fill me up, but it is the welcoming and genuine of the owner that is worth coming here.

The town is also full of guesthouses, and pensions, hotel. Efes backpacker and pension is a good place to stay, cheap and clean. The onwers are honest and can arrange tour with cheap price.

Most visitors skip this town, it is a mistake. Safranbolu is a wonderful place.

“Historic”

Looks like a country side with no noise or air pollution giving you a sound and relaxing atmosphere. The restored houses describe the passion of people who originally built them.
