“Excellent Villa”
Reviewed 30 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

My husband and I rented the Villa for two weeks in July with two other friends. We all truely enjoyed ourselves. The view is fantastic from the Villa. The villas is huge. The pool is cleaned daily. It was only a short walk to Kalkan Town. All villa information were provided in details.

We have to say we highly recommend the villa to anyone. We will definitely go back too.

“Fabulous stay”

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Villa Tymnessos. We travelled as a family group which included two pregnant daughters! We were not disappointed.
Prior to travel I had been communicating with the villa owners to alleviate any worries or concerns and I can honestly say that the response was efficient and informative.
We arrived during the early hours of the morning and our driver was there to tranfer us to the villa, which was a lengthy one and a half hours. We were travelling with a two year old and were concerned about the journey, however everything went smoothly.
The villa was delightful and very clean and anything that required repair was dealt with promptly..e.g. air conditioning, TV not working etc.
The villa is on a hill and access would be difficult without transport. We used local taxis to go into the beautiful village of Kalkan to eat by the harbour during the evening or to explore the local environment. The Turkish people are so welcoming and friendly and made us feel fantastic!
Our mission was to chill and relax during this holiday and that was what we did. There was never any hard sell or pressure at all. I have to mention the Cafe Vita...we ordered lunch every day which was delivered free. We had Turkish and Greek salads, pizzas, shish chicken, all very cheap and delicious. One day we forgot to order some wine to go with the meal and the delivery driver immediately responded with a quick phone call to the restaurant to ensure delivery was with us within 5 minutes!. They could not have been any more friendly or efficient, they definitely deserve a mention.
We did book a boat trip for the family which was absolutely memorable. There was just our family of 8 and another 6 guests. This was definitely one of the most memorable experiences for us. We were picked up from the villa and escorted onto the boat which took us around the bay and islands, with a truly gorgeous BBQ on board, stopping off to snorkel and swim in the warm med.
I would highly recommend Kalkan as this is an area which is still removed from the typical 'lager lout' culture and breathtakingly beautiful. Villa Tymnessos is a testament to this.
We would love to return at some later stage with the family when my grandchildren are born!!

“The Villa on the Hill - a perfect getaway destination for a travelling party”
Reviewed 10 January 2012 for a stay in November 2011

Villas on hills are supposed to be grand – and Villa Tymnessos does not disappoint. This four-storey home perched on the slopes overlooking Kalamar Bay (and the Snake and Mouse Islands of the Mediterranean Sea) provided a comfortable home-away-from-home for our week of relaxing (and a bit of exploring) as summer faded in the tourist-happy town of Kalkan. This usually-bustling town, on the western coast of Turkey, was quietening down after the buzz of summer. The calmness was rather pleasant though, and the weather was still glorious: blue sky and blue sea from every window of the villa.

The villa is within walking distance of the hub of the town and Kalamar Bay (a local launch spot for scuba-diving and kayaking), yet far enough removed from its rush. The house itself is spread over four floors, so there’s also plenty of space to escape the rush of domestic bliss too. Our party of eight was comfortably accommodated: there are three floors with bedrooms and areas for relaxing on all the levels. The best bits of the house: the roof-top terrace offers views to drown a few sundowners by, and the pool soaks up the sun while you laze under the shaded terrace nearby.

The hard part starts when you decide to leave the villa ready to explore the local area. Historical sites, beaches, outdoor activities all vie for attention.

If you meander northwesterly towards Fethiye, you’ll come across Patara – home to a gem of an archaeological site and one of the best beaches in the world (or so it was voted in 1999) that plays host to thousands of nesting turtles in the summer months. I was also surprised to learn that St Nicholas of Myra, the inspiration for the modern-day Santa Claus, was born here a few centuries AD.

If you head south towards Kas, you’ll pass Kaputas Beach, a pebble beach accessed only by over 300 stairs built into the side of the cliff. If the entrance is a bit daunting, be sure you’ll be greeted below by someone ready to offer you fresh fruit and tea.

A bit further on after Kas you’ll find Kekova, a tiny island with a little secret hidden just under the water. In fact, it’s a whole town (named ‘The Underwater City’) that was submerged following an earthquake in the 2nd century.

Once you’ve explored Fethiye and Kas, don’t forget the bays around Kalkan. And there’s no better way than by water. Either on top (in a kayak) or below (on a scuba dive), the sea is as plentiful and exciting as the land in this part of Turkey.

Or simply follow the sun, and enjoy the relaxed, spectacular Turkish coastline. Thanks, Villa Tymnessos for an unforgettable week!
