We arrived from Bangkok in early December. We were warmly welcomed at reception and checked into our double room without a sea view. The sea view was more expensive however I would highly recommend not getting it. Our view from the fourth floor was of big Buddha at the top of the mountains. This room also offered more privacy on the balcony.

The hotel itself is situated away from the bustling towns but only a short taxi ride to patong and Phuket town. Taxis are available from reception at a discounted price.

The room was very clean and bath robes and slippers were supplied. The mini bar offers reasonable prices. The bathroom was kitted out with incredible small touches.

The restaurant offers a free breakfast buffet. You can request anything that you cannot find in the buffet and they will cook it up fresh for you. I highly advise getting up at 6am a walking the beach to the sunrise and then have you breakfast in the restaurant that looks on to the beach.

The staff in the restaurant are incredibly helpful and go the extra mile every time you meet them.

The only slight downsides are the beach is only practical at high tide (mornings) and there are many noisy Chinese tourists, however they do seem to disappear on tours during the day leaving the pool and bar area to yourself.

I'd also like to thank all the staff at the hotel for an amazing experience that I would love to have again! I look forward to meeting them in the near future!

Steve is an absolute asset to this property.
The management are pathetic and their policies would require severe modifications before I would recommend anyone to stay.
Despite a complete mess up with room allocation and 2 moves the eventual room was satisfactory.
The arranging of a non guest 60th birthday within 3m of our room was a complete invasion of normal hotel protocol.
When we were notified that the celebration was to take place on a Sunday night of our week we asked what time it would commence and what time it would finish.
Accordingly we made plans to go out and return after the party was over.
After our return the party with the whiney (cat strangling music and singing) continued until after 11.00pm and only stopped after repeated complaints.
Such celebration should not be held in common areas of a hotel when it interferes with guest enjoyment or prevents sleep.
I would warn potential guests from booking this hotel.
The budget temporary room we were put into after the initial mess up with room alocation was an example of 3rd world cheap and discusting doss house.
Could be that the non resident chinese owners want to take all they can out of the property and minimize costs.

This Hotel is off the beaten path so to speak, but offers very spacious rooms and some pretty outstanding food from there restaurant, the pool was quite large with a swim up bar. Located on the Bay there really is no swimming from the beach because of the tide being out and when its in it seemed very shallow. Plenty of Long boats available for the day trips to the many islands located near by. But as far as walking to a restaurant forget it! There to far from the Pier or any other attraction in the evening......Taxi and if you find one get there phone number it will save a major hassle when you want to return. BTW there is a Mosque located close to the property so you will experience the prayers over the loud speakers. :)

Room tip: Pool facing very quite,

Chalong Beach Hotel and Spa is a fair clean and comfortable hotel, its not a 5 star such as the "Le Meridien Phuket Beach Resort" but its great if you are on a budget.

The hotel is very popular with Russians who get quite loud in the evenings and the hotel seems to be used for a lot of one night stays by people touring Thailand so expect quite a few loud coaches arriving late in the evenings.

If you are looking for a family holiday then this hotel is ideal, it has a large pool that it pretty warm and does not have chlorine in the water which was an instant win for me, the pool water is slightly salty but its perfectly fine for the kids, the pool also has a small shallow pool for the little ones and the main pool has three levels, the main area of the pool is about 5ft deep and there are two shallower sections with a ledge for sitting on.

The beach - well there is a beach area which is okay if you want to just lay there all day but there are no toilets nearby and no refreshment huts which means you have to go back into the hotel grounds for both, not to mention when the tide goes out all you have is a grey mud.

Taxi's - a taxi booked at the desk will cost you about 200 baht ( £4 ) to the Chalong pier which is pretty decent since its not a pleasant walk along the roadside, the taxi drivers are very friendly and appreciate a 100-200 baht tip, its handy to have a card from the hotel with the hotel's name and address so that you can get back okay without having to trip over the language barrier.

All in all, if you want a cheap holiday then the Chalong Beach Hotel and Spa is a perfect hotel we paid about £750 for two people for two weeks which is pretty reasonable.

Room tip: try to get a room on the 3rd floor facing the sea, its a pretty nice view of the pool and out to the sea.
