A nice quiet sort of place, a gentle hide away I would say, the best rooms are around the small lake and are only a few steps to the beach, the beach is really nice and not too busy. The hotel seems a little bit run down in areas but the staff are great.

This coast line of Thailand is much nicer than the heavily commercialised areas such as Krabi.

You get a sense that with this hotel its all about a business and lacks a personal touch, a few improvements could make the place so much better.
-All the rooms are dark with not much lighting.
-Not cleaned properly, leftover food was not removed. Even after we called and asked them to clear it, they only moved it to the side of our room behind a tree!
-No beach beds near the pool
-Breakfast buffet is below average.
-Few maintenance issues, the place feels like its not being attended to. Door of our bathroom did not lock.
-Pool needs some repair too, when we were there, some tiles broke off and we pointed it out but the management seemed in no hurry to fix anything. also the older people in our party found it difficult to get in and out of the pool as there was no proper railing. similarly the climb to the breakfast buffet also was hard on them as well as for those with little kids!

On the positive side:
-staff seem nice and friendly
-the beach is lovely and relaxing
-the hotel landscaping is very nice
-some great restaurants all close by including smiles, everyday 2 and mr ju's

Overall an average resort but wouldn't stay here again as it is not worth the price.

Situated on Sunset Beach and with only 34 rooms, the Wanaburee Resort has a quiet and intimate atmosphere, which seems to appeal more to older couples. Rooms are comfortable and spacious but interiors rather drab.
Good buffet breakfast with attentive and friendly staff.
Small improvements would greatly enhance the overall appeal of this hotel like repairing the walkway from reception down to the garden level; replacing the concrete road around the property with a paved or cobbled surface and removing unsightly oversized concrete stepping slabs from in front of some of the rooms.
Annoyingly, all the sunbeds by the beach (with no one on them) had been reserved with beach towels, books and other personal belongings early in the morning!

On finding a great rate to fly to Thailand over the holiday period, I really struggled to find a laid back small hotel until this was recommended to me. I totally understand why people keep going back. The staff is friendly, there's only 35 rooms, so the feeling is quite intimate, the food is really good, and the bungalows are a great size.
The sunset view from the beach is worth millions - absolutely stunning.

Wanaburee is a nice resort by the beach. It has lots of potential, but some of that is lost.

The rooms are big, nice and comfortable and the staff is great and friendly. Very welcoming. But there are some maintenance issues around the resort. All the other resorts around cleaned the beach every day, but the beach in front of Wanaburee was full of fallen leaves and other stuff. The garden had probably suffered from the long dry period and it did not look as good as it could. The restaurant was located right next to the pool - not very nice for the people having a meal or for the people taking a dip in the pool. The bar was in a very strange place too and perhaps that's why it was always empty.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the resort, but it has potential to be much more.
