Nice but room not clean

We stayed here for a quick trip to the nearby airport. Finding the entrance was difficult due to the driveway configuration and the convenience store located directly in front of the hotel. There were 2 Quality Inn signs but the entrance was hard to see. The check in clerk was very friendly. The hotel is clean but there was a person in the lobby with her belongings in a plastic garbage bag. The room was warm upon entering, which is nice. Unfortunately the bed was made without the sheets being changed because there was a lot of hair on them. Also hair on the bathroom floor and the soap dish was dirty. We obtained new sheets from the clerk and made the bed ourselves. We checked out before breakfast was ready 5:00 am. And although there was coffee there was no juice to be had.

We got in late and road weary. We booked by phone while driving. We nearly always have good experiences with Choice Hotels. After checking in we were sent to 2nd floor via stairswhich wouldn't have been a problem except for the odor. A very odd smell of burnt rubber and sour milk. It was off putting. We checked the room which seemed clean with no odor,so we stayed and went to bed. Early rising led to a surprise in bathroom. When i shut the door, i found a pile of used towels from previous customers. So that was irritating. Then when i drew back the window shade i found a filthy window staring back at me. Any one of these things might have been forgivable, but the 3 combined leads to this, something i dont like to do........ a bad review. Bummer

For the most part the hotel is clean, although dated. Needs some general maintenance done. carpets should be replaced with flooring.

At breakfast I watched the staff responsible for setting out/prepping food go about her tasks wearing the surgical gloves normally reserved for prepping and handling food. Typically used and then removed. With the same pair of gloves, she removed plastic packing from a sleeve of cups, she picked up, opened and inserted garbage into the trash bin, she picked up a plate, serviette and cutlery for an individual, she removed the tray of breads! She did all this wearing the same pair of gloves that she (I have no doubt) prepared the food with. But hey, at least her hands are clean and sanitary, can’t say the same for my food! Which brings me to my egg patty, what part of an egg is black (and hard like plastic)? When I reported to the front desk my concern about the staff wearing the gloves to keep her hands clean rather than our food from being contaminated, her response was not one of shock, nor was an apology offered. Desk clerk simply stated “I will tell her.”

Check out is at 11, because we don’t have an especially long drive today we decided to stay until checkout. We put the chain lock on the door and the deadbolt. I was dozing off when at 9 a.m. the cleaning staff tried to open our door. They did not knock, just simply used their pass key and tried to walk in without checking!

Photos show the simple task of fixing curtain ignored, flimsy chain lock on door, as well as the large cabinet right in the entry. I was not able to bring the luggage cart into the room because of the cabinet, had to take things off and put unto washroom so that I could empty cart.

Picked up the ice bucket to use it (fresh liner hanging on it), without looking I moved it rapidly towards myself and sideways only to end up with the ice water (melted) all over myself and the tv stand. Clearly the cleaning staff did not clean the room thoroughly, just assumed it hadn’t been used!

Not impressed, doubt I will stay here again, certainly won’t recommend this hotel.

breakfast staff and all corrections have been made. Again, I do apologize for these issues.
Quality Inn does have good news! We have renovated our Hotel and have all new carpeting in
the rooms and corridors. Every room and all the corridors have new walls and fresh paint.
We also have a new bedding package in our rooms. Our Breakfast area and lobby are also
newly renovated!! I hope you will give us another try so we may have the opportunity to extend
to you a superior stay. We look forward to seeing you!

Do not stay here. The place stinks of old damp smoke, mold or something extremely musty. We booked a room for 1 night and could not even stay. We left shortly after arriving even after having our room changed. Avoid this property unless you like to breathe in smoke smell. The staff was friendly but told me I could not have a refund. I've stayed in other properties without this issue. It definitely could be a health hazard for your family.

Room tip: 2nd floor smells worse than 1st floor.

our Hotel is now a non-smoking Hotel. We do not allow smoking in our Hotel. Again, I do apologize

Dingy, small room with a pronounced smell of cigarettes. Whole hallway smelled of smoke too. No rooms with 2 queens so we asked for a cot. Couldn't get one because there was not anybody to "deliver" them. Would not have for in the teeny room anyhow.

with 2 Queen beds but may have been sold out on that room type the date you were

We visit elderly parents monthly and usually stay somewhere else. But we came and our usual hotel was booked solid. The girl at the front desk was pleasant and extremely helpful... got us into last room at a decent price. That’s where the good ends. The hallways were dirty and smelled bad. The room was semi clean... clean enough but not what we are used to. Air did not work well. We stayed 2 nights but after our first, after being out from 11AM- 10PM, came back to a room that was not serviced. “I’m sorry. I’ll tell the manager.” I went down early in the morning and just asked for some fresh towels. For the extra
$30-50 a night we will definitely return to our usual hotel. In an emergency situation, you do what you have to. But they advertised newly renovated and I didn’t see it. A shame because we come visit so often... could have been convenient.
