Great value for the money - surprisingly quiet!

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Nov 2024
We spent one night here on a road trip in northern NY. If you’re familiar with the Courtyard brand, there are no surprises here. The rate was *very* competitive and I chose it for that reason. Yes, it’s on the thruway and I was a bit concerned about noise, but I heard nothing overnight despite our room looking out right over the thruway! Good sized room, plenty of space for 2 people, excellent night’s sleep. My only issue was that there isn’t much within walking distance: a Dunkin’ and a gas station/convenience store on either side and a university ball field across the street. We had to drive a ways to find dinner. Other than that this hotel is great value for the money!

Relatively solid place. Courteous staff, comfortable room. My only quibbles were that the toilets had to be specially engineered to make the most noise possible. I've never heard the like! I felt bad having to pee in the middle of the night for fear the flush would wake the neighbors! Also, there were a bunch of long black hairs stuck to the shower wall from a prior guest. I can forgive the oversight since the property seemed otherwise well maintained and clean.

I recently broke my leg and using crutches to ambulate around. The front desk was quick and professional. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The shower was ideal to safely wash with a cast. The Starbucks staff was friendly and went above and beyond to serve us. Great experience.

I read the reviews and was somewhat iffy - but was a great stay. I am a biz traveler Titanium with Marriott. Location: Great location right across from the Univ of Albany so if ur a runner or walker this is a great space to do both. There is a 7-11 right next door which is always cool and a dunkin next door on the other side. The people working here are all great. The room--I was given 131 and usually I dont like rooms on the first floor but loved this one. So convenient. There is a restaurant -- The hotel food service was steps away, few steps to the shops next to hotel. No elevators to navigate; Liked room layout - you walk in there is an alcove to the left for the microwave and fridge and beyond is the bath, so there is some seperation from the sleeping areas. Water pressure is good, bed was very comfortable. Overall this biz traveler had a great stay and highly recommend for others

Room tip: rorequest an odd number room to be opposite the highway side. Right across from Univ of Albany so great for runners and walkers.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for a basketball tournament for my son. Overall this hotel was clean and the staff was friendly. But there were some major faults. When we went to use the pull out bed our first night there were no linens for the bed and no pillows any where in the room. We had to go down to the front desk to get some. We were then told there were no pillows. The gym was also lacking. The water cooler was broken, there were never any gym towels (when I went to the front desk there weren’t any there either.) There wasn’t a cleaning solution to wipe down equipment after you use it, which is really gross when you think about it. Also the gym floor is very hard and scratchy. They should have yoga mats for people to stretch and do floor workouts (Yoga, Pilates, core-work). I think if these issues were fixed many guests would find their stay more enjoyable.

Generally a good stay except for my sleep quality. Your results may vary. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The women at check in were very nice, professional and welcoming. The gym had free weights and machines which I liked. There were only two negatives. The mattress was too hard for my personal comfort, so I didn’t sleep well. The room was clean throughout except when I went to put something in the mini-fridge, a previous guest had placed leftovers in there and it smelled like they had been in there for some time. I’d stay again except for the hard mattress. Quality sleep is important.
