Stayed overnight for a dance competition. There are many hotels in this area and I would probably try any one of them before going back to the Econo Lodge.
PROS:
Location - just off I-87 and close to the Colonie Mall/Airport.
It is also next to a gas bar/convenience that has lots of drinks/snacks/coffee. On the other side of the gas station is a Dunkin Donuts.
Price - paid $75+tx US for the night
Staff - the young man who checked us in was friendly and polite
Quiet
Laminate floors
CONS:
Dirty - the toilet had a ring of black mold at the water line, the windows were filthy, and the 4-season carpet in the staircase was disgustingly dirty and frayed
Hot - the A/C in our unit (215) wasn’t working and our room was a sweatbox
Uncomfortable - the mattresses are ancient. You can feel every spring and any time one of us moved at all, the other woke up because the whole bed moved and creaked
Breakfast room - 6 tables with 2 chairs each could not accommodate the number of guests now the families
Neutral - continental breakfast was juice, coffee, water - cereal, donuts, toast, bagels with butter, jam, cream cheese - apples and clementines. The addition of peanut butter would have been appreciated.
We are a pretty low-maintenance family and I honestly would have preferred to camp out in our tent than spend another night in that room. Look elsewhere if you can.
