Reasonable for the money

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Dec 2017
Stayed here early December. Appears to me the hotel was redone or freshened up not too long ago, based on the paint and most of the lighting being CFL or LED, but it still has carpets. Very large room even with a king bed. There were some small signs of wear and age, the worst being a stain from a leak in the plumbing over the bathroom, nothing really worth complaining about. Stuff gets old, and this isn't the Ritz. Otherwise clean and neat and everything I used in working order. Rooms include coffee maker, iron, alarm clock, flat screen TV, outlets with USB ports for charging phones, etc. Was quiet even though on a busy road. TV selection a little odd (no TCM, but BBC America?) but I made do. Basic breakfast in the lobby with cereal, baked goods, fruit, plus juice and coffee. All kinds of restaurants and retail within a mile or two on the main road. I felt it was very good for what I paid. It also didn't fill up and stayed quiet all night.

The place is run down and dreary with burnt out lights and old box springs in the breezeway. The rooms are a bit run down and the plumbing sucks but the beds were New and the tv was very good. All in all not a terrible experience but not a positive one either.

Clean beds (I hope - they looked like they were). Spacious room. Everything was in working order. However...old furniture, old carpet, spackle on the walls, mold on the ceiling of the bathroom, dirty looking tub (I suspect "perma-dirt" - like it wasn't gonna come out ever). Musty smelling room. Front desk girl unenthusiastic but kind enough. Breakfast consisted of white/tan things - donuts, bread, bagels, apples, oranges. We skipped and went a mile down the road to the Colonie diner and had a nice breakfast. Definitely got what we paid for but would not return. Getting too old for these sub-par hotels...even just for one night!

This was my 10th stay at this EconoLodge in Colonie, NY. There are 5 other motels in the immediate vicinity, but this EconoLodge is my favorite. The sheets and towels are always immaculate and soft. The beds are very comfortable. The carpet looks brand new and was clean. The continental breakfast is adequate and appreciated. The public transit bus stop is located in front of the motel parking lot. I travel public transportation all the way so that convenience is much appreciated. Cumberland Convenience Food & Gas Mart is located next door to the motel. That provides a very convenient place to shop and much needed improvements to the public sidewalk between the motel and the transit bus stop. I will definitely stay at this EconoLodge again and will recommend it to anyone wanting a great place to sleep when visiting the Capitol Region.

Room tip: I always request an upper level room and a room that has not accommodated dogs and management is happy to comply.

this place is DIRT CHEAP sooo that needs to be factored in. my room was clean and everything worked. Yes the place is a bit sketch...i wouldnt leave anything of value out in the open, id lock your doors etc etc. good bit of people wandering around,i agree with others even the employees seemed sketchy, saw the cops roll through a few times but i didnt have any issues. breakfast was better then expected and served promptly. very close to the airport, highway, restuarants, shopping...i can see a stay here MAYBE going south but the price is really cheap

the hotel was nothing like advertised. As I walked towards the hotel there was a room on the first floor that was missing a doorknob and was closed by using wires or string.Walking up the stairs there were old mattresses in the hallway. the rooms pictured were not close to the one I had..My room had a pungent odor which I thought was possibly an air freshener then I smelled urine. The chair in my room was an old green vinyl chair and this was the source of the urine smell. On the wall I noticed white spots that looked similar to Spackle (?)..I became nauseous and had a horrible pit in my stomach.I did something that I have NEVER done and went to the front desk and told staff I could not stay that I did not feel safe.He informed me that they never had any problems. I had brought a few things to my room and needed to go back and get. When I returned my key he asked if i was going home..I told him I was going to another hotel....I was unable to get my money back since it was non-refundable... I wish I took more pics but I could not leave this place fast enough...
