Hotel states on website shuttle available to airport . There were 2 of us flying out in am 2 hours apart and only reason booked hotel was so my travel companion could leave and I wouldn’t have to get up at 5am to drop off at airport with my rental car.
When we checked in were told that shuttle was not available which we didn’t make a big deal over. We asked for a number of local taxi and we were given a business card with the taxi number but strangely was told to make sure you don’t tell them that Hampton inn is requesting the ride as “they don’t like me” the front desk clerk said.
We concluded I would just make the airport run in am and come back and take a power nap after. At 5am leaving hotel there were 2 taxis taking flight crews to the airport but were taken and at this point I was good with the airport 5 minute run.
Following the drop off and nap I go to check out and catch the last 10 seconds of a young lady asking to talk to a manager who was not due in to work for a few hours and she walks away. I quickly check out and the same young lady desperately approaches me for a ride to the airport which I oblige.
We talk in the few minute ride to the airport and she also booked the hotel due to the shuttle reference on the website. At her arrival the day prior she called the hotel from airport for a shuttle where she was told one didn’t exist. After a conversation she was arranged a taxi which the hotel paid for, it seems that for the am in question the reservation was not arranged and the hotel was good with just having her miss her flight and was not their problem, it would seem that the property inconsistently covers costs of taxis for some customers and not others (refer back to my original strange conversation at check in). It seems they are well aware of this false advertising and have built a process around risk management.
The grounds and room are below average at best (toilet ran all night, loud ac, etc but was just a few hour stay.
Don’t suggest staying here due to their unscrupulous approach to business. Stay with the various marriotts next door.
