I checked into the SpringHill Suites Albany-Colonie on a Thursday night at about 8:00 PM, and was given a key to Room 426 (No greeting or thank you for being a loyalty member). I unloaded my family and all my luggage from my car, onto a bell hop cart and brought up the elevator to Room 426. It was obvious that someone had been in this room before me (The TV was on some random channel, towels were moved) It was also obvious that the AC unit was not on in the room. When I went to turn it on, it was clear that it was not functioning and it was over 80 degrees in the room.
I went to the front desk to notify them of the broken AC. The person at the desk looked at a piece of paper and confirmed that the AC was not working in my room. She then told me that I had the option of opening a window. (I mean really?)
I told her she would need to give me another room as this was not going to work for me. She informed me that the hotel was fully booked and this was not possible. While I was waiting in the lobby for my wife pack up all of our belongings, another guest asked me if there was a problem with my room. When I told them, they said that they checked into their room and it was obvious no housekeeping had been done (dirty towels, unmade bed, etc). Clearly this hotel has problems.
The front desk person was unable to find me a room in that hotel, or any other hotels in the area. Another guest walked in the doors and said “I am here to check in” and the front desk person said “Maybe”.
