Incompetent front desk

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 12 Mar 2021
I stayed at this hotel on business and the staff is anything but competent. As a lifetime Titanium member the hotel overcharged me for my stay by one day, told me they would correct the bill and 24hrs later I still can't submit my expenses because they still haven't corrected the bill. If Marriott was smart they should fire these people and replace the front desk staff with people who know what they're doing.

After probably 10 stays here in the past few years, Renaissance Albany is my favorite in the region. Location, quality of construction, quality of bedding, cleanliness, restaurant, bar and room service, friendly staff. Only issue we experienced this past weekend was a very loud neighbor, which security shut down promptly. Thank you to the hard working team.

The lobby is an original from the roaring 20's. I loved our room. Especially liked the blue neon lights as you enter your room. Very spacious bathroom. The ladies at the front desk and working in the restaurant are wonderful. No complaints. I would stay again if ever up that way.

I expected this to be a grand hotel, but I made a mistake. It has a tiny entrance off the street, no driveway nor bellman to help me. The room was just okay and the service was nothing stellar. I should have stayed at The Hilton near this hotel. That is my recommendation.

Stayed for a day lobbying. It is 1 block to the Capitol grounds and connected by an inside bridge to the Albany Capitol Center. From there you can stay inside all the way to Capitol Plaza. The Times Union Center is 2 blocks away. While the public spaces were obviously old ( classic is probably a more appropriate term), it has been well maintained and has modern amenities. The staff was friendly and helpfull. My room was clean and comfortable. The parking garage was attatched-$15/ day.
Not in what I would call the center of a vibrant nightlife.
The Albany Hilton is 2 blocks away and in the same price range.
If you are going to do business at the Capiol it would be hard to beat
