This hotel could really use an update. With the lobby on the second floor and the entrance on the first it was an odd set up. I had a few times the hotel room door did not working correctly, but the desk staff was great about getting it fixed.
There's a bridge to the hospital that makes it super convenient.
I chose this hotel because I thought it had restaurants on site for dinner and breakfast, and a bar for happy hour. The only thing available was bar food for dinner and a few cold items for breakfast. This required me to order food off premises which was inconvenient and more costly. Also, I was put in a suite that was next to the linen/laundry room that had the radio on all night which kept waking me up.
We chose this hotel for someone who is having back surgery because they said they had a pool fitness room and hot tub all of which the guest could’ve used due to back issues None of it was open they also have two restaurants on premises neither were open
The virtual key eliminates the need to take a ticket at the parking gate. Plenty of dining options on site and available for delivery. Guest floors can only be accessed with a key card. The guy who checked us in was really nice, he deserves to be mentioned by name but I didn't catch it. The room was very clean. Despite my room being directly across from the elevator, facing New Scotland Ave and Albany Med noise was not an issue at all. I anticipate the need to stay in the area again soon and I will definitely stay at the Hilton Garden Inn AMC when I do.
My father (and sometimes myself and a sibling) stayed in the Hilton Garden Inn Albany Medical Center while my mother was receiving care at the hospital there. We were taken care of extremely well, and were able to extend or shorten several stays due to changes in medical care. The entire team there, from cleaning staff, to front desk and reservation staff, to meal staff, were always courteous, caring, and empathetic. When my brother and I couldn't be there, they watched out for my father and always inquired about my mother's condition as well. I recommend that anyone who has a loved one in the Albany Medical Center that needs to stay overnight call the front desk directly and see if they have rooms -- the entire team there is amazing.
