Amazing service as soon as I walked in

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Nov 2019
Great hotel accomodations. As soon as I walked in felt like Ebony (front desk) already knew who we were. She was very personable and had us laughing from the second we walked in. Hotel is in great location.

My husband and I were at this hotel in September for a concert at the Times Union Center, just around the block from the Fairfield Inn. The proximity to the venue couldn’t be any better. One of the drawbacks is no valet parking on the weekend and the parking garage is around the corner and expensive. Fortunately, our friends arrived first and told us we could park on the street after 3PM and pay a nominal fee from the street parking machines.

We had a significant issue with our room not being clean yet, told it was being cleaned when it wasn’t and a front desk person who was raising her voice at me across the lobby. It was concerning enough that when I started to ask her to stop raising her voice at me, my husband asked me not to as he was concerned what she might say or do. I suspect someone in the office area heard her because she disappeared, and another woman came over and apologized profusely and said they were sending someone up to clean the room after I had already been told it was being cleaned three times.

The room we were in was stunning and huge with a fireplace and gorgeous views. It was immaculately cleaned, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. While I liked the hotel and the location, the interaction with the one person at the front desk was significant enough to give this hotel three stars. I have traveled quite a bit and never had any hotel employee talk to me that way. For any future visits, we’ll go to the Hilton just down the street.

Room tip: We managed to be put in a suite that was quite lovely.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a leadership convention. Thanks to Ebone, an unbelievably exceptional lady at the front desk, our stay was totally amazing!!! She has such a friendly, bubbly personality....and totally brightens everyone's day! And totally made our weekend! When we arrived, she checked us in. But as she was checking her computer she asked if we would like a king suite, instead of a 2 queen room. We said sure. Totally unaware that she upgraded us to a HUGE king suite with a wall of windows, TONS of space and a fireplace!!!! We thanked her immensely!! And totally enjoyed our stay at this hotel.
So if you stay at this hotel, ask for Ebone. She'll make your stay exceptional! And make sure you are taken care of!

1) Clientele: granted, this is a personal preference, but after a 3-night stay I did not see a single profiled business traveler. The clientele was a little eclectic.
2) in 20+ years I have NEVER had an experience where I ran out of toilette tissue in the room. This is definitely a first. On my first night the toilet tissue roll was low. It was never replenished. By night 3, I had gone though the second roll. Hey, it’s the basic things that matter! A girl needs plenty of toilet tissue.
Otherwise, the front desk service was spectacular, the rooms were nice and spacious, and the suite bathrooms were large, and it was a very comfortable stay.

a convient location in the heart of downtown albany.
great service with very nice and helpful staff.
gave a 4 out of 5 because the room didnt really have a nice view and there was a minor damage in the bathroom. other than that it was a big room and a large bathroom with reasonable amenitites. as for the location there are a good amount of restaurants and bars within walking range.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback on you recent stay with us. Unfortuantely we are located in a very old, historic building so we are limited in the rooms we have with a view. I am very glad to hear that you had a good experience with us and hopefully it will be even better the next time you come to the area for a visit.

In June 2011, I reviewed this hotel, at the time known as 74 State Street. Since then, Marriott has converted it into a Fairfield Inn & Suites. Stayed there again and much has changed that's worth noting.

There is a restaurant serving complimentary breakfast. In addition to a full continental breakfast with pastries, fruit, yogurt, the buffet contains eggs, breakfast meats, oatmeal and waffles. Of course, there's coffee, tea and a variety of fruit juices.

The second floor is now a welcomed fitness center. The lobby business center has two computers with a printer. Also in the lobby is a nice lounge with a cozy fireplace and attendants offering valet parking. The market has plenty of snacks, soda, water and microwavable meals, which is needed in Albany. Staff at the front desk are extremely nice.

The rooms now have double lock doors with heating and air conditioning that you can regulate. Some rooms have no windows. There is sufficient storage for light travelers including a small closet and dresser . Each room has a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, sugar, etc., an ice bucket and there are ice machines.

The bathrooms offer Paul Mitchell products including tea tree lotion. Toiletry items you may have forgotten are available at the front desk. A hair dryer, plush towels, mirrors and good lighting make getting ready easy.

There's a rolling desk with a desk chair and plenty of outlets around the room. The table can do double duty as a dining or meeting table. Cable TV offers lots of channels In addition to a phone for local calls, there's a clock radio with an alarm or you can schedule a wake up call.

The rooms are nicely decorated with wall paper and art. Very contemporary.

This hotel is one of three good options if staying in the downtown Albany area.

Room tip: If a window is a must, be sure to request a windowed room. Some rooms have no windows.
