In June 2011, I reviewed this hotel, at the time known as 74 State Street. Since then, Marriott has converted it into a Fairfield Inn & Suites. Stayed there again and much has changed that's worth noting.
There is a restaurant serving complimentary breakfast. In addition to a full continental breakfast with pastries, fruit, yogurt, the buffet contains eggs, breakfast meats, oatmeal and waffles. Of course, there's coffee, tea and a variety of fruit juices.
The second floor is now a welcomed fitness center. The lobby business center has two computers with a printer. Also in the lobby is a nice lounge with a cozy fireplace and attendants offering valet parking. The market has plenty of snacks, soda, water and microwavable meals, which is needed in Albany. Staff at the front desk are extremely nice.
The rooms now have double lock doors with heating and air conditioning that you can regulate. Some rooms have no windows. There is sufficient storage for light travelers including a small closet and dresser . Each room has a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker with complimentary coffee, sugar, etc., an ice bucket and there are ice machines.
The bathrooms offer Paul Mitchell products including tea tree lotion. Toiletry items you may have forgotten are available at the front desk. A hair dryer, plush towels, mirrors and good lighting make getting ready easy.
There's a rolling desk with a desk chair and plenty of outlets around the room. The table can do double duty as a dining or meeting table. Cable TV offers lots of channels In addition to a phone for local calls, there's a clock radio with an alarm or you can schedule a wake up call.
The rooms are nicely decorated with wall paper and art. Very contemporary.
This hotel is one of three good options if staying in the downtown Albany area.
