I’ve stayed at this Travelodge before. I’ve had both good and mediocre experiences here. This stay was better than the previous one.
The hotel has undergone renovations.
On arrival, I was checked in right away. I stayed for three nights this time.
The lobby area was nice. It had seating in front of a wall-mounted flat-screen HDTV. The public computer was located there.
I was assigned to a room that was unsatisfactory. It had a maintenance issue, and the handyman was gone for the day. I got moved to another king room with no issues. It was an updated room with the new hardwood flooring which I liked.
Room features included a mini-refrigerator, a microwave, hair dryer, bathroom amenities, desk, iron, and ironing board.
Room lighting was adequate with a light in the hallway, bedside table lamps on each nightstand, and a lamp on the desk.
There were plenty of electrical outlets. There was an outlet next to the bed and another at the desk. There was one available socket where the A/C was plugged in.
The room had a larger-format Insignia brand flat-screen HDTV. My guess was that it was 40 inches or maybe even 43 inches.
The mattress in this room was comfortable enough.
The bathroom amenities were lined up very precisely.
The breakfast area was a good size with seating at tables and chairs.
The free Travelodge Bear Bites continental breakfast was good. The main feature was the Carbon's Golden Malted Gourmet Waffle Baker for make-your-own waffles. Other offerings included Cheerios, bran flakes, oatmeal, red delicious apples, bananas, English muffins, and breads for toasting. Beverages included juices, regular and decaf coffee and tea.
The hotel also had a fitness center and a laundry facility. The fitness center had a couple of treadmills, a stationary bicycle, and an elliptical stepper.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is its location. It is diagonally across Wolf Road from the driveway to the Colonie Center, one Albany’s best shopping malls. It is also close to many restaurants, ranging from fast food to upscale dining. And, the Northway Shopping Center is just down Wolf Road and around the corner on Central Ave.
Another thing I like about this hotel is that there is a 24-hour front desk attendant.
I found the staff to be very helpful and courteous.
My rating for this experience is 3.50.
