This is what a down-market motel looks like. First the positives. The room was reasonably spacious, the bed was a king (probably foam?), and the furnishings were adequate, although showing some wear. The shower and toilet seemed fairly new. The sink was okay. The staff were helpful and responded quickly when we were confused by the TV setup. The room seemed fairly clean, and included a fridge, ironing board, and iron. The desk was fitted with electrical outets and the TV worked (once we figured it out). The breakfast was adequate, with a variety of cereals, breads, a waffle maker, yogurts, some fruit (apples and very green bananas), very hard hard-boiled eggs, and so on. There were no breakfast meats and no other type of eggs. The coffee seemed okay. The location is handy since it is across the street from a mid-market mall with Boscov's, Whole Foods, Barnes and Noble, etc. Now for the negatives. The motel backs onto a busy highway (I-90, I think). The car park is just outside of the rooms, which are all arranged along a long, single corridor. The corridor was strewn with lint, bits of tissue, and unidentifiable small objects. It was equally dirty the following morning. The flooring, in both the corridor and the rooms, is some sort of wood-look linoleum tile that is not wearing well in the corridor, but is still serviceable in the room. The floors are squeaky, so you may hear noise from upstairs. Everyone passes in the corridor, so you will hear everyone passing by, fairly loudly some times. This is the sort of place where some guests like to hang out in the parking lot on a Saturday night (there were 10 or 12, yukking it up until fairly late). In the morning, the housekeeping staff are cheerful but noisy as they trade jokes and news in tones that are definitely not subdued. The internet was not working the evening we arrived. Obviously they are not taking the needs of business travelers very seriously. (It was restored the following morning, but meanwhile someone could have lost a business deal, a job offer, etc.) From what I could see, the guests who were staying at the Travelodge have one thing in common: they were looking for something cheap. This is not the worst place I've stayed in, but I wouldn't come back. I'm sure something better is available for a couple of bucks more. I gave this 3 stars, but it is closer to 2 1/2 in my opinion.
