Rooms not sound proof.. could hear everything… kids…people opening doors…. Even footsteps the floor above us………….my friend said the room smelled like a public bathroom……. The bedside lamp next to my bed did not work…so I had to leave the entry light on to read….The bed was however clean and comfortable
The only reason to stay here is proximity to Albany Airport. That includes parking and shuttle to and from. They charge for parking, but that's upfront and no problem. When I made the reservation and when we checked in, they repeated their mantra: we will leave immediately to take you / pick you up 5 -10 minutes from hotel to terminal. Well you probably guessed, didn't happen. The trip to the airport (for a 5:45 AM flight !!!) was as promised. So, we return from our trip, claim our luggage and call the hotel. "I'm leaving right now and will be at baggage claim in 5 - 10 minutes." 20 MINUTES later I call the hotel only to learn that the driver had only just left!
We were a little leery about the minimalist aspect of this new style hotel, but found everything to be comfortable and above expectations. Although about a mile from the airport, the room was quiet and the building is surrounded by woods. Bed was comfortable, lots of pillows, large shower, large flat screen TV, breakfast was basic but good. Shuttle service pickup from airport and also took us to our restaurant choice for dinner. Tony the driver was super friendly and helpful. Stayed one night and would definitely stay again when in the area. 5 stars
Stayed here 1 night based on strength of TA views. This was my first time staying at the TRU brand. It seems targeted to a young audience. Bright colors and minimalist approach(eg no closet but a small rod to hang a few items) seems like Disney meets a dorm room. It was clean and new and bed was ok. Breakfast was standard freebie for that price point hotel. Hotel is very convenient 3 min drive from airport and is set back in a nice green area with an all purpose trail. It was a 10 min drive to a major mall with several upscale chain restaurants to choose from. I accidentally walked into nearby Hilton Garden Inn and it’s lobby seemed nice enough but I would be happy to stay at this property if I were to ne using Albany airport again
Tru by Hilton was a very nice, modern hotel. Check-in was quick and efficient and the young man behind the desk was very friendly.
Rooms were clean and comfortable, and the A/C worked very well, which is important to us. It also featured an above average hotel breakfast, as well as a nice little sundry store that was very well-stocked.
We’re a little annoyed at the new trend of hotels not putting microwaves in rooms, but in fairness Tru didn’t advertise microwaves.
Overall, we were very pleased with Tru and would definitely recommend them.
