My daughter and I are staying at Days Inn by Wyndham at SUNY Albany for 3 nights. We are on night #2 and my daughter's startled scream just after 5am wakes me up. Turns out she woke up and saw a bedbug crawling on her pillow!! Horrified I took pictures and emptied a bottle of acetaminophen to capture the bedbug, to confirm the identification and provide proof to the hotel manager.
I called the front desk, explained the situation in a frantic voice, and the front desk clerk calmly asked what I wanted to do. He wasn't even phased by what I said. I told him I need to change my room immediately and I'll need to speak with a manager. He said he would bring me keys to a new room, which he did right away. I told him I would bring down the old keys later and speak with a manager then. I also told him I had the bedbug in a bottle if he wanted to see it. He waived it off, apologized for my trouble, and left.
It told me a lot that he didn't even blink about the situation. As my daughter and I were quickly gathering our things while doing our best to give them a quick look over for bedbugs (we didn't want to bring stowaways home with us), I did a search for Days Inn by Wyndham SUNY Albany+bedbugs and wished I had done that before make the booking.
This hotel has a HISTORY OF BEDBUGS!! One case was as recent as last summer. I was willing to put up with the rundown, not too clean looking room and lack of continental breakfast due to COVID-19. because of the price and location but bedbugs are a non-starter. Do yourself a favor and avoid this location. I will NEVER stay here again.
