Description: Ernest Hemingway's 1952 novel The Old Man and the Sea depicts the world of a poor Cuban fisherman who fights the wild sea. These elements of sea, fish and noble nature have also inspired the establishment of the well-known restaurant on Jaffa's Kedem Street - The Old Man and the Sea.

Our first meal in Tel Aviv was at the Old Man and the Sea. What an eye opener. We sat down to a table full of small plates from Hummous to salad and delicious pita bread to accompany all this. After gorging ourselves on this wonderful spread, the waiter wanted to know what we would like to eat! We were so Hungary on arrival and so full on departure. Our hosts ordered some fish and was wonderful, although we didn't eat a lot of it. The restaurant is crowded and close, even outdoors, but we had a view of the sea and had a wonderful meal! What more could we want!

Large place and very busy on Saturday afternoon. They serve eastern/ traditional food - they bring lots of tasty appetizers to start with and then you can add your entry. We got a nice 2-kg whole fish and it was well prepared and we enjoyed it. The atmosphere in this place was very welcoming and fun. This place is great to go to after the beach, with friends. I would not go there for dinner.

It's best to come hungry to this Jaffa seaport restaurant because before you even order, they put 24 small plates of food on your table with delicious homemade pita bread that will fill you up even before you get your main meal. And if you finish one plate they will actually come back and refill it. I sure wish we would've come hungrier then we did because when we got our main meals and finished them we were absolutely stuffed and ready to roll out the door. When we got to the restaurant the greeter in front said to us, "welcome to the show". Boy was he right. What a restaurant. A must do in Jaffa.

This is a real Arab Restaurant with a lovely view. The service is excellent and the selection of salads well served and a large variety. It was hard to fit in a main course after the salads. The lamb kebabs were excellent as was my cousins fish & my mom's chicken. The hummus, Regina & babaganush were all excellent as was the pita bread. I highly recommend this restaurant and it's amazing atmosphere!

That's an excellent restaurant overlooking the sea. It's great for reservations for big groups upstairs.
