“Submarine monument”

Monkasel (Submarine Monument)
Reviewed 3 May 2018 via mobile

Kapal Selam monument is a must see attraction while visiting Surabaya. Submarine is maintained as it is and provides the visitors with first hand information about the life of submariner. We really get to see how the submariner lived inside the submarine. They have a ten minute video session which explains about the submarine .

One submarine...Russian..

Go only if you have nothing much to do one afternoon..

Entry fee us cheap but the place is not that interesting despite it being a submarine ...

Nothing much inside and not recommend that much. You have to buy a ticket. Anyway, you can go if you have free time.

If you have not been in a sub, this is the next best thing especially if you have claustrophobia. Be warned that you have to crawl on your knees between the sections, only to cross over. Still, it was hot and stuffy . In a way, you get to appreciate the officers in a sub, the conditions and the smallness of the whole place.
Boy, I was glad to finish exploring, to be out in the sun after that.

The monument is within walking distance of Surabaya Gubeng station and My Studio Hotel. Pay it a visit if you're wandering the city, tickets to enter the sub are only 15,000rp (~AU$1.50). It's a bizarre sight in the midst of a busy city, quick to visit and not costly.
