Good stay

Review of The Mirah Bogor
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Nov 2018via mobile
room clean, but need to check on corners cause still find dust, bed linen have tiny yellow spot.

Breakfast lots of variety but need to improve for the taste.

Surrounded by cafe and good street hawker if you like to eat outside.

But overall everything good and nice place to stay.

A hotel catering to business groups, the Mirah is well located, close to Botannical Gardens, just a twenty minute walk to gate 2. In an area with plenty of fast food and cafe options around. Modern, clean and average. Breakfast buffet was average and plentiful. Staff were courteous and friendly. Pool was on the cool side as it sits most of the day in shadow of hotel building and is very deep. Children's pool gets more sun. Only complaint was wifi was very poor, showed a signal but unable to connect and continually dropping out.

Reviewed 16 July 2018

Stayed at this hotel on July 14-15, 2018 with my extended family. Last minute booking, we were looking for a hotel with a swimming pool. The location of this hotel is quite strategic, close to culinary centre and Kebun Raya Bogor/Bogor Botanical Gardens and Pajajaran street. Since we got there around 12 AM, it was difficult to get a parking spot, but the security guy/satpam provided valet service so no problem.

Then we went to our room on the 4th floor in the 1st tower. Noticed that there's only one out of two working elevators, which presumably doubled as service elevator as well, because our bellboy waited to use the same elevator. Turned out our rooms are actually located on floor 3.5 because we got off at 3rd floor then went up by stairs to our room. The hallway was a bit dark so it was kinda spooky. When entering our room, we noticed that the fire alarm emergency switch in our room was broken. The room itself was quite clean and nicely decorated, just like the room and suite pics provided by the management. Few amenities in the room: flat, small screen LG TV (power button on the remote not working), small fridge, bathroom with shower head (no bathtub) and cold & hot water (good water pressure), two slippers, two pillows (no additional pillows), two bottles of complementary water, balcony (with operational/openable windows), a split air conditioner (thankfully worked very well and not noisy) and a chair. We found it strange that there's a mirror right in front of the bed (right behind the TV) as a decor. Then my wife noticed the bed sheets were a bit rumpled (looked like somebody's laid/slept on it). Since it's already late and my son was very sleepy, we decided to sleep on it anyway. Then at night, my wife noticed that the windows rattled frequently thus making noises, despite no draft on the outside. And we could hear the road noise of motorcyclists racing from the main street somewhere. Oh well. I think the bed was hard on your back (not sure if it's topper). while the bedding feels soft and comfortable. And my in-laws complained that the housekeeping took more than 30 minutes until he showed up to change the stained bed sheets from her room.

In the morning, off we went to restaurant for a breakfast. Selection wise, considering it's a 3-star OK, I think quality, presentation and selection-wise it's OK. As usual you get a selection of Indonesian foods (chicken porridge, bubur sumsum, fried rice etc) or continental breakfast (bread, pastry & danish, egg station, cereal etc). I like the chicken porridge (too bad it was cold) and the fruits and the juices. Coffee was OK too (self service). The staffs were quick to clear our tables.

Then we went to the swimming pool. There are two pools, a kids pool and an adult pool. Both are unheated/cold water, and that day it was quite cold. The pool was clean, and you could borrow a hotel towel for free. But then I noticed what seems to be an submerged electrical cable from inside the kids pool. I really hope the hotel management has MADE sure and double-checked it's really safe.

So, what I like from the hotel:
- Juices & coffee provided during breakfast
- Strategic location
- Good water pressure in the shower
- Quick checkout (hand over your room key and you're good to go)
- Nice/modern decor and spacious room

What I least like from the hotel:
- Spooky room
- Safety can be improved (broken emergency switch, submerged electrical cable in the kids pool)
- Uncomfortable/hard bed

Room tip: Maybe room in the new wing is better

I am a frequent traveller to Bogor, passed this hotel too many times but never stayed here..usually i frequently stayed at other hotel, unfortunately its fully booked, but because this hotel is close to many culinary place, i’d decide to try this hotel, this is my 1st and probably last time staying here

Pros:
room is big
Near to culinary place
Interior design is beautiful
Breakfast OK

Cons:
AC is not cold consider hot

We running out of hot water (how come?????????) and the water is not even hot..its lukewarm

No fridge

Very minimalist toiletries

No hand towel

Only 1 slippers for 1 room with twin bed

Pool was dirty (the water is not clear blue..its BUTEK)

Not many variety in breakfast buffet

It takes forever if you asking things like extra towel or bath mat from operator..i wait for more than 30mins an none comes (it was faster if you go down and asked by yourself)

At night, this hotel a bit creepy since the distance between tower A-B to front office is far and minimal staff around

Only 1 small elevator for the whole building

They have windows on 4th floor that can be opened, it was open last night, DANGEROUS, people can fall from there

Eventho the location is good, but its a bit tricky if you want to go to other place beacuse you have to turn into other access (and we know bogor is infamous for its traffic jam)

The towel is not clean, it has few stain

For this price (around 700k), i expect more..sigh!

The Mirah Bogor is a 4 stars-rated hotel, located at the center of Bogor city. I've got room rate around IDR 500k/ night (bed&breakfast). Surprisingly i got the lowest room rate from their website (usually the lowest rate found at online ticket agent), so I recommend to check their website if you want to stay at this hotel. The hotel is full booked when I stayed for a night, so I think this hotel is well-known.

Location and Building:
The hotel located and Jalan Pangrango, which is a small street just next to famous Jalan Pajajaran. Since the hotel is not at the side of main road, maybe some people will get confused to find this hotel. The good thing is this location gives a more quiet surroundings. The hotel somewhat strategic, close to train station and Kebun Raya Bogor. ATM, factory outlet, restaurants (McDonalds, Papa Ron's, Burger King, and also can be found near to the hotel. No minimarket found around this hotel. Parking space is limited, no basement available, so people parked their car at the side of street around the hotel and also in front of the lobby.
The hotel building itself has a classic-elegant feature with modern touch. The lobby and reception area pretty small, but well designed with sofas for waiting. The marble floor, stair, and chandelier gives luxurious touch. Across the hotel, there's small park, where people can sit and relax. The hotel facilities quite complete; meeting rooms, swimming pool, mushola, cafe, lounge, restaurant etc. There are 2 lifts in the hotel, but one of them always out of service. One thing that make me confused is there's two "tower/building" of this hotel with two entrances; the main lobby located at tower 1. For people who not familiar with this, they can ended using tower two entrance and confused where they are since the room numbering is different than tower 1 and also no clear directions. Tower 1 and 2 also have different lifts also.

Check in and room:
Check in time is 14.00. I came at 13.00 to check in. The front office staff politely greet and take care my check in, but they informed, since they are full booked, my room is not ready and I need to wait until 14.00, but she promised to informed as soon as possible when the room is ready. At the end, my room is ready around 13.30.
I've got deluxe room at 2nd floor. The room quite spacious, with view to residences around the hotel. Like other parts of this hotel, the room also has classic elegant style with modern touch. Standard facilities of 4 stars hotel can be found: a closet, refrigerator, cable TV, air conditioner, working desk, telephone, and slippers. The room is not using centralized AC, but a single unit of split AC. For me, this kind of thing is more comfortable for me, since I can control the AC more.

Bathroom:
Bathroom is pretty clean. Amenities includes soap bar, tooth brush, shampoo, and shower cap. No hair dryer available in the bathroom, but available open request. The basin also equipped with hot and cold water. Bathtub and shower is available in the deluxe room. Water pressure pretty good, but the hot water is not hot enough at certain time when many people used it. Also, the shower holder at my room almost detached from the wall.

Service:
Service was really good. The staff are friendly enough and helpful. The receptionist is the one whom I see give the best service.

Breakfast:
They served pretty complete breakfast start from 06.00 AM. The menu is mixed menu between western breakfast and indonesian breakfast. For Indonesian menu they served chicken congee, fried rice, fried chicken, fried mushroom, lontong sayur with telor balado, mung bean (bubur kacang hijau), bubur sumsum, and black rice pudding (bubur ketan hitam). I love the lontong sayur since the veggies still have its crunch and The least favorite is their fried mushroom, which I think overcooked.
Ffor western menu there are salad bar, fetuccini, potato, baked beans, cereal, egg and bread station. I don't like their baked beans, because it's very oily. I love their patry, since I can taste the buttery pastry which melt in mouth. For the beverages they served orange adn guava juice, coffee, tea, and also jamu.
The service during breakfast is great. The waiter/waitress quickly clean my table after I finished my dish.

Check out:
Check out time is 12.00. My check out process was very fast; I just need to return my room card and nothing more.

Conclusion:
Pros: great staff and services, room facilities, location
Cons: hot water, broken shower holder, confusion of tower 1 and 2.
