We recently stayed in both the newly built Ravine joglo's . Words do not describe how stunningly beautiful these are, actually the whole place is filled with beauty, I could not stop taking photos.
The outdoor bathroom was such a great experience, having a bath while its gently raining with jungle and frogs making noises was unbelievable. Amazing to go out at night with the lights off and see the fire flies flitting about is something I'll never forget.
Breakfast was yummy with Wayans pancakes/crepes maple syrup and coconut the first to go.
Sonu is just amazing, he goes the extra mile, something you don't find often, he truely is a blessing to have looking after the guests and the general day to day running of the accommodations. Thank you Sonu we are all missing you and your stories and gentle caring nature. Not to mention the hairy scooter rides to the street!!!
The whole place is perfect, go and experience it, natural beauty at its best .
Stayed in the treehouse with 8 people. We had a great stay. Airport transportation was smooth. Greeted by Sonu with fresh coconuts and great conversation, he also arranged for a dinner delivery as we were all starving. Breakfast was a highlight. Helpful with recommendations and motorbike rentals. Views were amazing. Outdoor kitchen was equipped and nice to use. Very accommodating with luggage upon checkout down the bumpy dirt path. Tips: bring your bug spray. Only wish there more oscillating fans in the joglo and mosquito nets for the single beds. Other than that– wonderful!
The Rice Juglo is like nothing I have seen before. It is absolutely beautiful located in the middle of rice paddies and offering luxury accommodation in a peaceful environment. Sonu who owns and manages the property is amazing with people and with his running of the properties. If you are looking for a complete rest and magnificent scenery, you cannot go past this property.
Our arrival, near midnight, put me at ease straight away. An airport pick up followed by a well orchestrated handover to a fleet of scooters delivered us through rice fields alight with fireflies and a chorus of frogs. Magical to see our destination well lit and welcoming!
Made - the ever smiling and gentle gardener - offered us tea and even produced satay and nasi goreng from a nearby warung, in case we were hungry. It was our first overseas trip with my boys and could not have been a better start to an unforgettable experience.
Kristine and Sonu have crafted an amazing retreat within 20 minutes walk - 5 on a scooter, 10 on a bike - from the heart of Ubud. The path winds through working rice fields, dotted by other guesthouses and a selection of warungs. So there is no real need to go all the way into Ubud for a snack or meal if you are feeling lazy.
We felt immersed in a lovely enclave without being too remote. In busy months, Sonu tells us, the path at the bottom of the garden is a constant stream of meandering tourists.
Breakfast each morning was gathered from the garden or sourced locally (except the Vegemite) and prepared by the beautiful Wayan. I highly recommend the slow roasted duck FEAST that is prepared by a local lady - delicious to return home to at the end of a day's exploring.
The atmosphere is peaceful, relaxed and homelike (if you live amidst a jungle & ricefield with luxuries and staff) And that feeling can't be manufactured - it's either there or not, and The Rice Joglo has it in spades.
Sonu was a wonderful host, arranging drivers and tours, imparting local knowledge. The handful of other guests are all having a similar, wonderful experience. I imagine it would be the perfect spot for a wedding or birthday celebration.
Emails with Kristine were answered promptly and the payment process was simple and safe. She and Sonu are world travellers and have a vast Bali knowledge and experience. Nothing is too much trouble.
Overall, this was the trip of a lifetime - beyond simply a place to lay our heads. Special, unique and memorable. We feel lucky to have discovered it
The Rice Joglo requires a unique moped ride or a walk down the famed Ubud Kajeng Rice Fields trail at the edge of Ubud. I feel blessed to have booked a stay here and enjoyed my 4 nights immensely. It is in a dreamy working area of the rice fields where flocks of ducks wander about by day and fireflies dance over the fields in the evening.
The Joglos themselves sit at the edge of a wild palm jungle, nestled between two rice fields. The bathroom in the Ravine Joglo is completely open to the jungle; I've never experienced anything like it! Our Joglo was 2 story with a third floor loft. There is a ground floor patio and a lovely second floor deck, complete with hanging lounge chair. The views are enchanting from every direction.
The building are lovingly constructed and I felt like I was sleeping in a work of art. Breakfast every morning was generous and healthy. We were lucky enough to have a hands on lesson in making some daily offerings, provided free of charge by the owner. This would be a wonderful adventure for a family, a fun romantic stay, and a great spot for a girls trip. Honestly, I would never stay anywhere else in Ubud. This was a most enchanting stay.
