Not great

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Dec 2015via mobile
stayed here for 3 days. I'm not sure exactly where these other reviews are basing their stay on as the accommodation is not great.

When we checked in the man at the front desk asked that we pay for our stay upfront. This set alarm bells off as most places take money at the end of the stay. We were shown to our room which was quite dingy and poorly lit. The bathroom looked as though it had been renovated recently but the rest of the accommodation was drastically in disrepair. The walls were in bad need of painting, the television didn't work, the curtains were completely covered in holes. There were also lumps of wood in our garden that seemed to be holding up the fence.

Whilst we stayed here there was a lot of building work taking place next door, I think to expand the hotel but it meant that even when we tried to relax we couldn't because of the noise.

The pool was also in need of repair, with paving stones missing.

It didn't help that lovina has nothing to do in the area. The beach is quite a walk from the hotel (there is no beach at the hotel, only retaining wall with sand on top to make it seem as though there is a beach )

Would not go back

It seems the place changed its name - the name dispalyed at the entrance to the resort is "Nugraha Lovina Sea View Resort and Spa" - at first I couldn't find it on TripAdvisor...
It is a very good hotel, with a decent restaurant (virtually anything we've eaten was at least good, most of the time excellent). The place feels calm and full of serenity, but that's probably because of the season - we stayed 4 nights, and for 2 of them we seemed to be the only guests around :-) so everything was so to say "for us".
The rooms are not that spacious, but in the end the hotel room is not the place where you'll be spending your time when in Bali, right? Rooms are clean, most with a nice view on the garden or sea. We had a room at the reception desk level (1st floor), overlooking the garden and open-air restaurant, with an outlook on the sea.
Pluses - how often were you allowed to use the swimming pool after sunset or max. 8.00pm? Well, you'll be surprised - the swimming pool closes at 11.00pm! So if you want to go for a swim after dinner - feel free to do it :-)
One thing prevented us from giving this place 5/5 - hot water problems - for the 4 consecutive days we had some struggle with making it work. Of course everytime we reported the problem the the reception they were very helpful and the problem was fairly quickly solved, but a while later it recurred, and son on, so it was a kind of a pain... at that price level, such problems should not occur or be prevented from recurring..
Overall, a nice, sleepy (because of the season) and peaceful place where you can charge your batteries (or set up for a trip into the mountains). If I was to return to Lovina, I guess I would come here, provided hot water would be there too ;-)
One other thing - very decent WiFi is available free of charge at the lobby / reception area, with no WiFi in the rooms, except for ours - yes, we had WiFi access. I think however that it will not work in other rooms, as the signal wasn't strong.

Room tip: Room 211 has WiFi access ;-)

Lovina beach, Singaraja located in north of Bali, about 4 hours from Kuta Bali, and 1 hour from Gilimanuk, I suggest 1 nite stay in Nugraha hotel if you want to visit by car, this hotel like one stop service, you can reserve a boat to watch the dolphin.

This hotel, was a pleasant surprise when we couldn't get into the hotel we originally looked at . Our room had amazing views of the sea and the restaurant is on the waters edge to enjoy breakfast and dinners. We were spoilt being the only people to enjoy the pool every day by ourselves and the pool is big and clean.
This hotel comes up,as a 3 star hotel but I would rate it a 4.
The staff were also friendly and helpful to any of our needs.
Also hotel is close to git git waterfal which is so beautiful to have a cleansing swim in and the hot springs and Buddhist Monestary are also close and a must see I believe for all tourists. Also Lovina is known for its dolphins so a boat ride to se them is a lot of fun.
Lovina town is small but great places to eat and only 5 minute drive away for 50,000 rupiah .
We were also surprised by a complimentary birthday dinner for my friend.

Only down side to this hotel is no walking paths and had trouble getting a hot shower .
Also can only do wifi in foyer and dining areas and at the pool. No wifi in the room but reception is good in every other area.

Room tip: All rooms have sea views

This is a lovely place to stay if you want to relax and unwind. The rooms are well appointed, large and comfortable, and the balconies look directly onto the beach through the fringe of garden along the shore.
The landscaped pool is also beside the beach, in a garden setting.
When the tide goes out during the day, you can go beach combing along the black sand without too much hassle to buy souvenirs. Be prepared to come back with gooey feet, though!
The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. It was cheaper to book a sunrise boat to dolphin-watch at the hotel than outside, the same with transport when we left.
There aren't shops or markets nearby but a taxi can be arranged if you need anything - about $5 return. There's a string of little seafood places just a short walk up the beach but otherwise, enjoy the peace of this lovely resort.
The restaurant is located right by the shore with a mix of seafood, Balinese and western dishes. The buffet breakfast was great too. Prices reasonable.
Wifi is available in public areas.
