Peaceful stay with spectacular sunsets

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 30 Jul 2015
This is a lovely place to stay if you want to relax and unwind. The rooms are well appointed, large and comfortable, and the balconies look directly onto the beach through the fringe of garden along the shore.
The landscaped pool is also beside the beach, in a garden setting.
When the tide goes out during the day, you can go beach combing along the black sand without too much hassle to buy souvenirs. Be prepared to come back with gooey feet, though!
The staff are polite, friendly and helpful. It was cheaper to book a sunrise boat to dolphin-watch at the hotel than outside, the same with transport when we left.
There aren't shops or markets nearby but a taxi can be arranged if you need anything - about $5 return. There's a string of little seafood places just a short walk up the beach but otherwise, enjoy the peace of this lovely resort.
The restaurant is located right by the shore with a mix of seafood, Balinese and western dishes. The buffet breakfast was great too. Prices reasonable.
Wifi is available in public areas.

We had a romantic dinner evening at this place with a besutiful view on the beach and local fisherman busy at low tide.
What a ambiance, witnessed the moon set .
Very friendly waitress. Maybe a little to friendly according to my wife.
At least I enjoyed it.
The food was excellent. Crab and tuna plate with bali sauce.
And offcourse the large bottles of Bintang.
We stayed at Cleopatra. A small walk to the right on the busy road. No lights be carefull. But certainly worth the walk.

This hotel is located in a beautiful beach front location. Hotel is older style but has a nice charm. Limited hot water in shower and zero water pressure. Towels rough and tough. Drink served room temperature, "Senior guy in charge" so so, others friendly & helpful.
I didn't book hence twin room available my bad, but 2x single beds pushed together separately made up, for single occupant?
Considerably over priced as advertised, from what I see around the area.

I had seen this Resort Hotel online whilst browsing TripAdvisor a few days ago and decided I should go and take a look because the reviews were strong and the photos attracted me

I went there around 11:00am and it was quiet, with staff in red polo shirts available to respond to any questions

I parked my mobike and had a look around and the grounds are 'impressive' when compared to all the other hotels I have seen around Lovina - this one has a 'grand' theme and the main building (lobby area) is a really nice building with large open spaces and authentic Balinese architecture - it reminded me of a big Resort on Manggsit Beach on Lombok that I have stayed at 6 times

I made my way to the restaurant area which was not obvious to see - it blends in with the surroundings

Wow - great location - most definitely on the water - and I was interested to see how they have reinforced their sea wall against the constant erosion that Bali suffers from

I found a table right near the water in the shade and sat down and kept thinking how it's a beautiful property and superb location

Over the past 7-8 years I have favoured another seaside Resort which is also in Kaliasem but the Nugraha is a clear cut above that and, now, Nugraha is my favourite

I ordered a Ginger Ale Tea from the friendly English-speaking Balinese waitress and said when she gets back I can give a food order

The Menu has a lot of good choices and there is opportunity for a few return visits

I decided on the Kung Pao Chicken which is tenderised chicken in a tasty soy-based sauce with pieces of green and red capsicum and some onion - very tasty and well cooked

That was it - I didn't choose a dessert but next time I will

It is more expensive than a small warung on a street somewhere but you also get a million dollar view and location included in

I took some photos of the restaurant area and of fishermen offshore up to their chests in the water, with fishing rods, plus photos showing the coastline both east and west

Again, I did not stay there nor see into any of the rooms so I cannot vouch for that side of things - read the other traveller reviews for that info

Stayed here for a few days at the start of our Bali break. From the moment we arrived the staff were just fantastic, welcoming and friendly, delightful to deal with. Our room was spotlessly clean and, like all others had an ocean view and a balcony that we could sit out on to watch the waves roll in. The size of the room was good and we had everything we needed. Note previous comments of the room being dark, but with three or four lights to choose from at night and good natural light during the day, I would have to challenge this. I loved being able to look out the window and see the tree tops and blue skies.
We had a few meals at the hotel which were ok, breakfast being a bit repetitive, but we topped up on the beautiful bowl of fruit brought to our room with a smile. Drinks watching the sunset were special.
We did have a massage on our first day but didn't bother to go back. It was expensive (by Bali standards) the room was hot and stuffy and really the experience didn't meet expectations.
The beach is of black sand but the pool was so inviting we didn't venture down there. We were lucky to have our own transport so spent one day checking out the surrounds, including the hot springs near by. There is a large souvenir complex just up the road but apart from that you are away from the typical Bali frenzy of tourists and shops unless you venture into Lovina, about a five/ten minute motor bike ride away in the opposite direction.
The staff were great, only thing I could fault was that on the day we sent sitting by the pool they could have come to us to ask if we wanted food or drink, rather than us having to find them. But, in saying that, when we had ordered they were very helpful.
Since returning home I have recommended Nugraha as the place to go to get away from it all.

Room tip: All room have sea view, ground floor were more spacious but more expensive.

The service when we were checked in was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and spacious. However the lighting a bit dim, especially in the bathroom, the hot and cold water can't blend well so i had to shower with cold or super hot water, but it was great.
The breakfast was so-so, they provided set meal that we could choose, the omelet over cooked, the waffle was okay, a bit too sweet but the tomato juice was great i loved it.
