Jageshwar is approximately 100 kms from Naini Tal and 40 kms from Almora in Uttarakhand. Jageshwar is divided into two parts - Dandeshwar with 15 temples and Jageshwar with 109 temples in an area which has beautiful deodar forests surrounding it. The beautiful place has these temples dating back to over 1000 years old made of chiseled stone with beautiful carvings. It is said that these temples was built by Katyuri Kings.
Venerated to Lord Shiva, it is a sacred spot which is visited by large numbers in the month of Shrawan and Shiv Ratri. To reach this place it is advisable to book a own taxi rather than to look for public transport.

We visited this place with full family in March, 2017. The place is good 2 hours away from Almora itself. But as soon as you ll enter to the way to the temple premises the experience is enchanting. The place is thinly populated. It has separate area for shoes. You can buy Pooja Samagri from nerby stalls and shops. Nothing overpriced. Pujaris and all are too well behaved no scamming unlike mathura etc. Peaceful Divine place. Here you can spend good 2-3 hours. We were not having much time and it was raining so didnt stop for too long which I regret even today. Rest rooms seems there but wasnt working.

The very sight of the temple has a very ancient and historic look. The temple looks like the one you see in an Indiana Jones movie. This was the first temple that I visited in Almora. It was morning when I visited this temple and the whole temple was cleaned by water as it was winter my feet froze due to cold and hence it got a little difficult to roam around the area. There are many small shrines here the main being the Shiv ling. This is a must visit temple for its look and peaceful ambiance.

It is an ancient Shiva temple located near Almora in Uttarakhand. There are 100 temples in the Dham. It is said that Adi Shankaracharya has built some of these temples. The jageshwar dham is surrounded by dense Deodar forest. Nageshwar temple is the main temple here. The temple is believed to incluede in Nagesh Jyotirlinga. You can take pictures of anything but, have to take permission from Pujariji. The temple is being managed by Archaeological Survey of India. There are a phew hotels near the Temple. You need 2-3 hours to visit the all the temples and the Jata Ganga, a small river on the side of the temple.

If you are visiting Almora, do include this beautiful temple in your itinerary. In the temple complex there are two separate temple for lord Shiva - one for lord Mrityunjaya Mahadev and other for lord Jageshwar Mahadev. It is a very told temple under ASI administration. If you wish to offer prayer then you may prefer to speak to one of the pandits. They take care of all you need for the puja. And charge you for the entire thing, which in my view is very convenient. Avoid peak days if you want spend quality time at this place.
