Discovered this place unknowingly during our regular off road trip to Lonawala beyond Della Adventure site. The route beyond Della Adventure is un-metaled but entire route is breath taking experience for it scenic beauty. The route has historic background too, said to date back right from Maratha Kingdom. The Shirota lake route splits off left from the bhimasankar route.

We have frequented that area a lot, have discovered Shirota lake only not until recently when we got ambitious to further venture inside because of the dry season. Plus our confidence was high because of ample Food supply and our vehicle equipped with high ground and 4WD. During monsoons we have witnessed vehicles completely half submerged in mud very sorry situation. Hence never ventured in further.

In a exploring spree with family and kids kept on driving until he reach village where the road ends. Caught site of the lake only while we were turning back in a open patch; the lake down below. The discovery was a sense of excitement to all. We had no idea that the lake existed there.

Parked the car the spot, hiked down the hill to reach the lake. The banks of the lake was like a beach. Diverse Flora and fauna to witness. Very curious and friendly villagers around the lake.

Have been prying to visit this place again and camp there during winters.

We chanced upon this and were very pleased. Letscampout adventures has a camp site here. The accommodation is in basic tents, there is no provision for water, so be prepared for dry loos, carry enough toilet paper along

The camp operators were efficient, friendly and laid out one of the best meals i have had todate in such a remote location. Unlimited succulent, hot barbequed snacks followed by a full buffet-set up under a lean to shack with battery operated LED lamps. Superb and memorable experience!
Trek into the nearby forest at night, lie on the rocks and star gaze, wake up to the morning rays and chirping of birds...get in balance staring at the vast expanse of serene waters.
