We were lucky enough to stay at both The Casita del Lago and Abiquiu Lake Mesa during our trip. The Casita was booked for a few of our vacation days, so the owners accommodated us in Abiqiu Lake Mesa. This is a wonderful home and the owners have renovated it beautifully. The views are spectacular. Pedernal out the front and a deck overlooking the lake. The master bedroom is large and has a super comofortable king bed. Large flat sceren TVs (2 of them), a new large hot tub (one side has a lounger in it - lol), cable, WIFI, new appliances - just a wonderful experience. Be sure to hike down to the lake. We'll be back - just don't know which house we loved more.
My husband and I stayed for a week at Abiquiu Lake Mesa. The location of the home is "off the beaten track" so it's very quiet and peaceful with beautiful scenery.
I can always tell the moment I walk into a vacation home (sometimes before I walk through the door) whether the home will be clean and nice. Carolyn and Tom's home is excellent and clean! We loved the house and every room was a nice size and decorated very well.
We cooked a number of breakfasts and dinners at the home as there are only a few restaurants in the area. We ate enchiladas at Cafe Abiquiú one night, had pizza from Mamacitas one evening and ate dinner at El Farolitas one afternoon. Every meal was very good.
We hiked at Ghost Ranch, Plaza Blanca and the BLM area off the road heading toward the Monastery. It was nice to return each day to Carolyn and Tom`s home and cook a leisurely meal while enjoying the sunset .
Thank you Carolyn and Tom for sharing your "sweet home in paradise". We hope to return to your mesa home unless we bring friends with then we may have to rent your larger vacation rental by the lake.
We were looking for a very quiet place near water. Just needed to decompress and re-charge! I was a little disappointed it was so far from the water, but the views were absolutely breathtaking. The house is beautiful and comfortable, with all the amenities you could need. Our favorite spot was sitting on the deck and just enjoying the quiet. SO quiet, something you're not used to but appreciate when you live in a city! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home, we would highly recommend!
Great house in a great location. So much to love - the drive in, the location, the remoteness, the quiet, the views, the owners. This is by far the nicest vacation rental home we've ever stayed in. And, by far the most amazing views we've seen. Really a wonderful spot. We hiked Ghost Ranch and Plaza Blanca. Went into Santa Fe and did Meow Wolf, which was awesome. Owners told us to get a drink at The Compound in Santa Fe and that was fun - a bit like being at Cheers! A great get away and we will be back.
Looking for a home in Abiquiu that has great furnishings, great views - a bit of luxury? This is it. When you see the Santa Fe Blue front door, you know you are home. The house is really nice and has high quality furnishings. It is comfortable and has a lot of space, even though it is just a one bedroom. Best of all, it has a deck attached from the bedroom and the family room - the deck overlooks the lake and has table/chairs/couch/hot tub. We hiked down to the lake. We also hiked at Ghost Ranch. Made a trip into Santa Fe to see Meow Wolf. Really great get-away. We were only here for two nights and then moved into The Casita del Lago - same owners, same general area. Both homes are incredible.
