I had a room on the first floor with straight access to the pool. It was beautiful and relaxing. The staff was great, the rooms were clean. Keep in mind that the mini bar has a fee, hence if you take anything from there you have to pay it back and is a bit expensive in comparison on how you can find it outside.

Room tip: The only thing I would advise is for the hotel to maybe charge a bit more per room but have the stuff at the minibar included.

My Sweet Polly Purebred and I stayed two nights at the Mantahost hotel in Manta for a convention. We've never been to Manta before, and our friends that we traveled with by private car were helpful in finding stops along the way and finding the hotel.

The hotel is modern, clean, and accommodating to guests. The front desk has the ability to converse in English with guests, a plus for less than fluent Spanish speakers.

Full bell service available at the hotel. . . very useful. Once in the room, we found that what looked like a minifridge was in fact a locked minibar (price list on the service placard on the desk). Would have been great to have a minifridge and a microwave in the room, but no loss as the one restaurant on site provided our complimentary breakfasts - available to all guests, btw - and our suppers (paid for in our hotel package that was offered to all the convention attendees).

When we asked, the front desk sent up employees with bottles of water for us, free of any charge. That was very helpful to us, as there doesn't seem to be any kind of snack shop or market around in the immediate area, which is tourist centered. Another plus was the small chocolates we received one day. Can't go wrong with chocolate!

The air conditioning either runs on, or is turned off by a manual switch. . . guest controlled choice. The a/c can be quite cold, so if one wakes up in the middle of the night due to a cold room, you know why. Easily remedied, of course, and it wasn't a problem for us.

There is a swimming pool, but no jacuzzi on site. We didn't use the pool, though. The beach is past the wall of the hotel, so there is no access to it from what we could see. There's large rocks to prevent beach erosion between the narrow strip of sandy beach - a ribbon of sand that goes on for kilometers either direction - and the hotel's wall boundary, which I can see is a necessary thing. To compensate, the hotel does have a sandy outdoor recreation area used for parties and get togethers, where food and drink may be served. We enjoyed a night in this area, which can accommodate large and small groups.

Two convention halls for conventioneers are in the hotel. A bit crowded on the mezzanine level outside the rooms, but the rooms themselves were large enough for our group's use. Restrooms on the lobby and mezzanine level, clean and accommodating.

There's a business center at the lobby level, with likely the usual services, but we didn't use them, nor did any other of our group from what I saw.

The two things that were important to us during our convention were having restroom availability nearby, beverage service (water) at the ready, and meal service at the stated times. The hotel did an admirable job of all of this, even providing hot snack items in break times at the mezzanine level, and delicious pastry cakes, smooth and soft. Delicious food overall. The culinary arts are very evident in the food creations of the staff, with some desserts to die for. Crepes. . . more crepes. . . (smile)

The other big item that was delivered to us was an accommodating guest room. The mattresses were firm, and with four big soft pillows to each bed, one could get sleep easily. Wifi worked flawlessly. . . the password is on the room key cover. Enough closet space, and real wood hangers for your clothes. Nice soft shower (no tub) with low rise entrance to the same. Nice thick soap bars to use, too. Big thick towels - if you're expecting a hand towel like one finds in the United States, it's not here, as this is Ecuador, so bring your own from home if desired.

Our overall experience was excellent, and excellent for the price we paid. Our group had a member who negotiated a very good price for us that I doubt few could achieve. We'd love to come back soon, as it felt like we were on vacation, and not at a convention.

Room tip: Get an ocean view room - 3rd floor and above recommended

We enjoyed the beach view swimming pool, the restaurant and especially the friendly waiters that greeted us for breakfast every morning! The hotel is very nice, relaxing and right on the beach in Manta.

A group of 4 adults looking for a quiet but good restaurant and this place was excellent. All food choices were well explained as Spanish was poorly spoken on our part. Time was taken to explain all questions. Ceviche was excellent and we went back several times to explore other choices as well. This was our choice when checking around. Sunday brunch was simply a joy to try. A bit expensive but worth every penny. Waiters were terrific. This is a must try place.

Hotel is in nice shape, good parking lot, personnel very gentle. Rooms are in good condition, very clean. Not a luxury hotel, good enough if you are looking for a clean and nice place. Beach access without sand (it's a rock beach), good swimming pool.
