Disappointing stay especially for the price

The beds were impossibly hard. It was like sleeping on the floor. Two of the couples in our group changed rooms, including myself and my husband. The new room wasn't that much better. Even the younger people in our group complained about the quality of the beds.

The TVs in two of the rooms didn't work.

The overhead light in another room didn't work.

No one answers the phone at the front desk. When I called to say the TV didn't work, no one answered after several tries.

When I mentioned this to the woman at the front desk, she told me that they don't answer the phones when they are busy. What would have happened if there were an emergency in the room and not something minor like the TV not working? They should have some kind of system to forward calls to a manager or similar to handle issues. I do not consider this to be a "budget" hotel and would expect much more for the price we paid.

Finally, the woman at the front desk was rather rude to me more than once including asking me to "step aside" while I reviewed the bill at check out.

I know they were short staffed, but there is no excuse for some of these problems especially not answering the phone and the front desk person being rude.

    Cute boutique hotel with incredibly kind and friendly employees. It was clean and well kept. We Loved the hotel’s location; it was right in the heart of everything with plenty of restaurants nearby. It is just a few blocks from theatres, Times Square, and Rockefeller center.

    The hotel is well situated the staff very friendly and helpful the room was very nice and spacious with a sea view the bed very comfortable. We went out off season which Was nice and quiet but in the summer it is the place too be with fantastic beaches and lots more to see

    Room tip: If you use this hotel you have to pay deposit which you get back when you leave .

    Fabulous location. The desk staff won't tell you (?), but there is a very good breakfast cafe/pizza place right on the ground floor. Great casual place to eat and meet. The conference spaces, though some are inconvenient to get to, are sunny and accommodating. Excellent spots for presentations. Nice bars. BIG DRAWBACK: the hotel pumps in heavy fragrance in all common areas. Made some of my fellow conferees ill. Otherwise, amazingly clean and well run!

    Room tip: Superb service and meeting facilities. Outstanding staff. No coffee or fridge in room. Perfume pumped into all common areas: ick.

    I booked this last minute since I couldnt find my other reservation. I did miss the entrance on the street a couple of times but when I walked in-it was absolutely beautiful. The check in was great. I was a little early but they let me to my room. I was floored. I got the Penthouse Jr. and it was awesome. I had a beautiful bathroom, a very firm couch, a desk and chair, mini fridge, and a super comfy bed with comfy pillows. I never went to the lounge since I was there for a concert at Terminal 5 (which was in walking distance)

    Room tip: The entrance can be hard to find, so look up for the banner. Tip-the area around the steps are silver.

    This is a terrible, run down property. The rooms are disgusting for any traveler who stays in anything nicer than a Holiday Inn. The carpets are wet in the rooms. The hallways are dirty. The building is nearly 100 years old and you can see and feel that across all aspects of your stay. I would sincerely recommend staying down the block at The Asbury Hotel. Save yourself the trouble of overpaying for a dirty stay. I don't want to tarnish the staff or their efforts, there is simply nothing they can do to overcome a lack of investment in the propery.
