Extraordinary friendly and highly motivated staff. Special thanks to Tracy for supporting with communication to Chinese Bank. The suites are equiped very well and offer plenty of room. Cleaniness is very satisfying.
Dear Dr. Erwin,
Thank you so much for the review. It is also a relief for us to know that the bank was able to assist us promptly in getting your credit card back before your departure. Rooms are always ready for you to come back and stay with us while visiting Suzhou.
Have a great day sir!

I have been staying at Ascott Midtown, Suzhou, since September 2015. Here is my experience on four key dimensions that matter to me:
1. Location: It is located on the west side of Jinji lake, near the middle of Suzhou. Donghuan Lu (subway station) is a 10-min walk. And there are useful amenities near by: Supermarket (where one can buy routine stuff like bread, milk, vegetables, etc.), Starbucks, McDonald's and several other shops. Overall, my take on its location is this: It's located in a peaceful and open yet convenient location.
2. Ambience, facilities and comfort: I find the ambience is neat, modern and elegant. The colours and quality of curtains, carpet, sofa, etc. are soothing. In addition, all gadgets are of reputable makes (TV-Sony; music system - Bose; oven, fridge, washing machine - Siemens). Further you get to enjoy a nice swimming pool and gym. Finally, quality of wi-fi is good.
And also, since I am vegetarian, I do cook my own food. My room has a very nice kitchen with all the required utensils and crockery.
3. Service: I find the people serving the guests are very courteous and service oriented. Some language issues are there, but overall, you feel being served well and people seem to be doing their best to help you.
4. Value for money: Since I am in Suzhou for relatively long stay, I did look at the normal apartments, but quickly realised the apartments, though cheaper, are far from the level of comfort Ascott provides. All the apartments I saw had old, bit unhygienic furnishings. And the pricing is more reasonable than other five star hotels and top class service apartments. Overall, I feel I am getting good value for the money I am paying.
I am pretty happy to be staying at Ascott and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a neat, comfortable and elegant accommodation at a reasonable price.
First time to stay here. Very fresh and modern room/apartment. Perfect for long stay as you have a kitchen and large storing area.
Lots of new apartment in China are of poor quality but seems that Ascott has spent some efforts on this. Restaurant only available for Breakfast which offered selection of european/asian food. The breakfast is served on the top floor which gives you a nice view of the city.
Ascott is just next to Vanke Midtown shopping mall where you have couple of restaurant and Mc Donald.
The Ascott is not directly on the lake but you reach there by car within 10 min.
Truly a home-away-home studio apartment with great layout that comes with washing machine (including washing powder) and dryer, own kitchen to prepare your meals with the entire suite of cutlery, cooker, microwave oven, fridge. Room comes with Sony big TV with BOSE sound bar and woofer, that turns the room into a home theatre system.
The 24-hour gym has very good facilities coupled with good size swimming pool that opens from 6 am in the morning.
Breakfast is good, with changing of the type of food each day. Special order like omelette, Asian style cooked noodles are also available.
Location is very good too with cafes, restaurants, shops in the same vicinity.
This is probably the best equipped hotel/serviced apartment in which I have stayed. The 1 bedroom apartment has 2 huge flat screen television, with a complete Bose sound system with the one in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with top of the line appliances. There is a very efficient clothes washer-drier combination with detergent included. In the booklet about the room there are instructions and illustrations on the use of all the appliances, thermostats, etc. If you cannot read Chinese it would be good to put a small sign on the kitchen counter telling these instructions are in the booklet, as we didn't see them for several days.
Beds and pillows are very comfortable. The bathrooms are outstanding with beautiful shower and separate tub. The toilet amenities are the best I have seen anywhere and in very large replaceable containers.
Hotel security is good. However you can't go from one floor to another guest floor, so if others in your group are on a different floor you will need to meet them on the top floor or n the lobby area.
The actual lobby/reception area is on the 2nd floor which can be confusing when you take the elevator to the 1st floor. Buffet breakfast is on the top floor with a good view. The selections are adequate but not abundant. Only 1 breakfast is provided/room and a second breakfast is expensive for what is offered.
Cleaning staff does a good job of cleaning. The only suggestion I would have is for them to work at removing scuff marks on the wood floor in the living room, and spot the stains on the small area rug in the living area (which is fairly thin).
The hotel is not the most centrally located, but easy to find because of the huge sign on the very tall building which makes it visible from many directions. It sits on top of a mall with many eating choices.
If I stay in Suzhou again I would definitely stay at the Ascott Midtown.
