The hotel has an amazingly large garden and swimming pool area. You could literally just spend your time on site and not have to go anywhere to truly unwind. Very well located next to PanMen Park and near the ferry to go on the boat tours. Opposite is a fantastic XinJiang cuisine restaurant that is a MUST. Breakfast buffet is extensive. The room we upgraded to had a beautiful view of the garden. The chinese name of the hotel is Wu Palace - and you really do feel like you are staying in a palace with the architecture. The only disappointments are that the room quality isn't clear on booking. We were initially shown to a tired but still very well appointed room. It was in need of renovation with scuffed worn leather couch, chips on wooden desks & fittings, grouting coming loose in the bathroom. We thought we paid for a better room, but turns out we had to pay even more for the great room we were finally allocated... about 45 minutes wasted commuting between rooms. So I hope the hotel management makes the pricing and room standard clearer in future. So my advice is to ask for a modern renovated room when you check in. The other issue is our room is next to the elevator and quite noisy. The issue is they leave a massive gap between the door and floor. I stuffed a towel there...More
