Expected more from a Park Hyatt!

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 5 Jan 2021via mobile
It’s quite a nice property with its semi-private beach and definitely less crowded than those at Yalong Bay. I do like the “quarters” layout of the property which reminds me of a country residence or resort for an emperor.

The room has a nice ocean view which came at a price of course. However, half of the light switches don’t work properly. For example, I can’t turn off the reading light above the bed without having to shut everything off. The Do Not Disturb bottoms by the door doesn’t work. The HDMI connection by the desk doesn’t work. Anyway, too many things nit working properly!

Most disappointing was the service at their Dining Room, your only decent choice for dinner inside the hotel. Started the evening by ordering a bottle of wine and two simple dishes. The first dish arrived in more than 30 mins only needed to be re-prepared because the waitress accidentally knocked over the bottle of wine and smashing the dish into pieces. That took another 20 mins. The second dish didn’t arrive over an hour hour. Chased them a couple of times after 45 mins only to be asked how we wanted our dish to be prepared, steam or stir fried? Even then, we had to chase one more time before it finally arrived for another 30 mins. Well that’s not acceptable for most restaurants let alone one at the Park Hyatt.

Breakfast there was an absolute zoo hit then again it’s their busy season so I can understand. Ordered two drinks at the Pool House for lunch and one drink never came despite chasing twice. Finally gave up!

Moving to the Rosewood tomorrow so hope experience will be a more pleasant one!

We stayed in a 2br villa with private pool, although we did not use the pool as it was too cold, we enjoyed the very large villa, we loved the spa treatments, private beach and relaxation spaces around the hotel and excellent customer service all around. Shout out to Christina (FOM), Anthony, Ira (F&B) and villa guest services for taking such good care of us during our stay. The grounds at Park Hyatt Sanya are second to none. We will definitely be back again in the summer.

I’m a globalist and I have a lot to say.

The room design has a lot of drawbacks. The power outlet is very loose for MacBook. So I had requested an extension, but the room service said, please let me check if we have any. OMG+1

When I checked in, the room was not ready. The front desk asked if I want a downgrade and I said no and I can wait. Then the waiter was showing me the way the restaurant for lunch. But he was lost the way in his own hotel! OMG+2

After the lunch, I got the call from the front desk saying the room if ready and where I wanted to get my key. I said, please send it to the restaurant. I waited for 10 minutes and no one showed but another phone call telling me the same question. I said I have waited for 10 minute and please send the key to the restaurant. OMG+3

Then one lady showed up and showed the way to my room but she guided me to the lady’s room, where she thought it’s a hallway. OMG+4

The typhoon has arrived so everywhere it was leaking. There were so many towels everywhere in the hallway to block the windows and doors and water was everywhere. There was a bucket to hold water from ceiling right in front of the PHSY logo! OMG+5

In my room there were 2 slippers, XL and S. We are 2 adults. I requested another L one. OMG+6

I requested a foam pillow and the room service said immediately they didn’t have it. Wow, I thought, could you please double check and get back to me? OMG+7 Why for the power outlet extension can be doublechecked but why the pillow. Either she has a very good memory or very bad memory.

In the front desk, they showed me hotel map, quite complicated. Then someone was writing from the inside of the front desk to write all amenity’s location and time from their side. So from my side, all the handwritings are upside down. I had to constantly rotate the map 180° to compare the building number and handwritings of the schedule. They don’t have any sense of service. At least she can write from my side or upside down from her side. OMG+8

The check out process seemed very long so I called them 30 minutes before hand telling them I will check out half an hour later. It means I wanted all my receipts ready when I got down and just wanted to sign and leave. But I waited for more than 10 minutes there. My car was there waiting long. There is no expediting line for higher tier member, which sucks! OMG+9

There were more small things I don’t want to mention.

Lovely hotel located in a very secluded Sunny Bay where you can actually enjoy the beach and get in the water. Resort grounds were quite extensive with three pools(2 outdoor & 1 indoor), amazing spa facilities, and great restaurants with my favorite being the Tea House. Had the spicy “yellow lantern chili” soup base with plenty of fresh seafood for dinner. Rooms were well designed and comfortable, hotel public spaces never felt crowded, and always able to find a quiet spot in the hotel to just sit while enjoying the solitude.

It is a distinctive property with everything you’d expect of a 5 stars property and not that crowded. Unlike Other hotels in Sanya.it is built at sunny bay which is especially own personal premier location. So stay here you enjoy peace and privacy.
As u can see many extraordinary arts separated everywhere in resort. It is a beautifully and thoughtfully designed property where a careful eye to form and functional details is not missed. The layout of the property is fantastic with ample beachfront area as well as a main long pool as well as an adult pool. Both are infinity pools that provide majestic views of the China Southern Sea.
The room was spacious with a imax seaview feel. It aslo provide excellent local cuisine,Dining Room provides traditional Chinese food in evening,u must have a taste of seafood.Aslo it will be supply breakfast in the morning.
Every staff especially Grass Chen they were truly take care of ur feelings during dinner about seats taste of food asked for suggestions really attentively on duty.
The staff was also super friendly and professional.Christina escort us tell us about every details about the resort.
also Jacky and Agnes help me a lot during stay.
If u ask me which resort will be the best choice stay in Sanya,I highly recommend Park Hyatt Sunny Bay Resort.

I have been in park Hyatt during golden week and even if it’s peak season the service was amazing. Jerry, the GM, took great care of us and all the staff from breakfast, with the chef and Ira, to the beach guards and restaurant staff, were all of them great and professional.
The best hotel in sanya.
