Beautiful hotel, natural beach setting.

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Jun 2017via mobile
Beautiful, beautiful! Hotel.
Has it's own large mineral pool, private beach.
Own by military as a resort. Look at your hotel receipt when you check out.
Great friendly staff, good food. Very large brand new room. Hotel is just breathtakingly beautiful. Layout is Similar to that of imperial palace.
Most staff dont speak much english, i do not speak chinese. That was beauty of this hotel, no one bothered me and i didnt bother them. Most relaxing hotel. Pool had natural mineral in them, my skin turned so soft. It was funny. 99% of hotel guest are from northern china, very quiet and good manner.

Located and connect to military only resort which has security, this is most secure hotel i ever stayed. Has nightly singing at lobby. Beautiful singing voice. Better than hawaii.

Warning, this is not a hotel for crazy party.
Not even loudness is allowed. Only good for people who enjoys tranquility in their vacation. Go during the winter, Summer is too hot here. While you are there, check out local produce market, there you will taste most fragrant fruits you ever tasted. I ate 3 mangos in one sit, they are huge.

Cities are undesirable. Dont need to visit.
Just hotel itself will take your breath away.
Fyi, the island is located right next to vietnam and total area is about 5hours by drive. sanya area is where good beautiful hotels are located.

We had a lot of trouble since all the staff only speaks mandarin.
The restaurants are good although all of them are chinesse food except one japanesse which we didn't like at all.
There is no staff at the pool or beach so it's hard to find someone to ask for a beer or water.
They have a tea bar near the pool available. We didn't like it that much since it was quite warm and the options were only hot tea.

hey all have open lobby, with wind blow through and rooms catogoried by the view. You can also expect coconut juice and the flowers for the welcome (if you are VIP enough or come with the delegate) like in any 5/4 stars. TWhat excels this Gloria hotel from the other hotels in Sanya is that this hotel is by neighbor with the hospital, not a hospital, but the best and highest military hospital in China. So any convinience you expect from the hospital and doctors, satety, health, retreat from uneasiess or treatment of some illness...
I guess if the hospital has plastic surgery, the hotel will get even better business

When we arrived we realised we had an issue with the language barrier. We had toured around China with private tour guides and when we arrived here we were on our own. However they tried extremely hard to help with what limited english they had. Our room was not up to standard as it was clearly a smoking room when we asked for a non smoking. They immediately changed our room without question. There rules in the pool and beach were strict and probably unnecessary but that was their rules. Perfect for a relaxing getaway - had no alternative but relax as on beach away from everything. We barely saw anyone and it was like we were there on our own. Food was average, wait staff excellent even with language barrier.

We stayed here for a few nights to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong life. It was perfect. Our room was beautiful and spacious and provided the most spectacular view of the water. The facilities were great and the staff, though lacking in English, were helpful. It was low season when we stayed so there were not many guests waking around. It felt as though we had the hotel to ourselves. A perfect getaway.

We stayed at the Haitang Bay Gloria Resort for 5 nights in March 2015 and had a good experience. We got a free upgrade to a Suite as we booked a room with sea-view and all the standard double rooms with sea-view were already taken. Both the hotel rooms and the whole resort area are very clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, and although only a few speak English they were always eager to help. The breakfast is sufficient and is served until 10.30am on the dot. The hotel has its own beach shop, two clothing stores, a SPA centre and hairdresser, which is quite useful given that there is nothing around the hotel. There is a free shuttle bus going three times a day to a nearby village, a Duty-free shopping centre just out of Sanya and the Sanya airport.

Rather disappointing was the fact that almost everything cost extra such as playing snooker or table tennis (I would understand a deposit for the rackets but charging for playing, really?!). The third pool also cost 126 RMB extra per person. You are only allowed to sit in the lobby bar when you order something; they came to us twice saying that we HAVE TO order something if we want to sit there. The restaurants (Chinese, Japanese) are overpriced and we never ate there.

Be aware that there are no lifeguards neither at the pool nor at the beach, especially when travelling with children.
